I looking for one that does seconds, basically want my water pump to switch on 3 times a day. Also want it to be digital, iv been looking at the sentinel MDT 1, looks perfect but i don't need to control lights etc. So would be a bit of a waste.

Ideally something that has more than 2 outlets that can control anything individually that i plug into it.

Has anyone got the sentinel above, how do you rate it, do use recommend anything else

What are the specific times you need to achieve? I have used the Art Dne from CAP and it works well. Actually I use it a lot and I use it for multiple purposes. It does on times from 1-60 seconds then it goes to minutes I think by 5s. Then the off times are minutes and hours. I use it for exhaust fans in certain tents instead of a thermostat, I use it for my ez cloner, and I used it for an aeroponic/nft hybrid setup. All for the pump, except for the fan. It's like $90 or something like that. Not digital, one port 15 amp I think, but does a bunch of stuff if you don't like it.

"The ART-DNe recylcing timer by Custom Automated Products controls any application requiring a device to be turned on and off at precise intervals. The ART-DNe has a user adjustable on time of 1 second to 40 minutes and an off time of 1 minute to 8 hours. A day/night/both switch allows you to select the time period that the ART-DNe will operate. The ART-DNe timers have a wide range of uses including controlling hydroponic pumps, simple CO2 controller, turning on and off ozone generators, running exhaust fans, etc. ART-DNe timers are rated for 15 amps @ 120 volts."

I use the same timer as Crombien. It functions very well for me. As he stated It can be used for a multitude of functions. It is very good for aeroponic needs!

Something like

turn water pump on 9am for 30secs then turn off
turn water pump on at 12pm for 30secs then turn off
turn water pump on at 3pm for 30secs then turn off
turn heater on at 9pm turn off at 9am

running a sealed room so would like to control my extraction fan at night if possible, something like turn on for 1hr off for 1hr through out the night cycle.

I also just ordered a EZ clone, what do you use a timer for?

Can i plug anything into the light port on the sentinel, i.e does it have to be lighting? was thinking of connecting my fan up to this port. Or are they wired differently to the other ports.

thanks for the reply!

x10 system for those times.

A cycle timer can do most of that but the program would be like this

On every 3 hours ( Cycle ) for 30 seconds ( duration ) but would not stop at 9PM. I have the sentinel but not sure it works like that. I use it cause I like the shiny lights :)

What do you mean x10 for those times?

How come it wouldn't stop, is it not programmable? only need it to feed 3 times a day, a litre each time, wouldn't want it to feed my girls in the night cycle.

that cycle timer has a switch on it, you can tell it to run lights on, lights off, or both.
So it will water as often as you tell it and for the duration you tell it, and lights on, off or both. Works great.

just to confirm are you refeering to the art dne timer and not the sentinel

And like I stated, If you don't like it you can use it elsewhere in the garden. I use it on my ez cloner because I don't want to use an AC or chiller to keep the water temps down in the cloner due to the heavy duty pump they use in it. It will warm your water temps to above 80F easy. So you use this timer to do 60 seconds on 3 minutes off. This keeps the temps in check IME and from others that I have spoke with on here. Problem is the pump on 24/7 in a warm room will change the water temps thus changing PH thus messing the aero cloning process up. With a chiller or a cold room you could run it 24/7.

As far as the heater goes I use a $65 CAP TMPDNe:

"The TMP-DNe allows you to control the temperature within your growing environment. You can set the day and night temperature independently. The TMP-DNe can be set to either heat or cool. Just connect your equipment, then set the temperature that you wish to maintain. If the temperature varies from your setting, the outlet on the front is activated.
Temperature differential can be set at 3, 5 or 7 degrees.
Comes with a 12' remote sensor.
The TMP-DNe is rated for15 amps at 120 volts.
3 year no hassle warranty."

Going have to say the ART-DNe from CAP and some normal 24hr timmer are your answer. For the one that need to only be on for 30secs. Set it for the on that long and the off ALL the way. Then plug the ART-DNe into your normal timer. Only have your 24hr timer on for 15mins during the time you want the ART-DNe to run for 30secs.

I own 3 of them. Just watch out of spinning thing with out seeing. Lost a set of cut because i hit the off to 5hr from 5mins off....

Digital lately has not been making me happy, due to it does not always cycle when the power is lost and restored.

Good point. I had that happen too. Just check it now and then and you'll be fine.

what are these c.a.p timers like for 240v, the only reason i thought of the sentinel is because iv already converted a CHHC 4 into 240v and UK sockets on the side.

So would the sentinel timer not work the way i want it to with the water pump? This stuff confuses the hell out of me.

Sorry if this has already been said, but why not check out the Sentinel DRT-1 it is the cycle timer only no lighting controller.
