Ro Water Ph At 2.5

I was talking to a friend earlier and he was saying his RO water is coming out with a PH of 2.5. Ive never heard of anyone having that low of a ph. I asked if his ph meter was calibrated and he says it is. has anyone ever heard of RO water coming out that low? it sounded crazy to me.

Pure water should have a neutral pH.

I think it's possible if it's loaded with CO2. Have him aerate it for 24hrs, see how the pH shifts. If it doesn't, then I think something's up. If he's using DI along with, those deionization chemicals can possibly drive pH down pretty hard.

wow...that's not even drinkable. very acidic, it could be used as a sanitizer. kills bacteria in seconds.

Id double check his PH pen get some test drops cheap easy way. That seems way out!
