Hey guys I need some help identifying the source of a problem with one of my trees. At first it seemed like a deficiency issue. Then leafs started showing retarded growth. Below you'll find pics the first 3 pics were taken July 31, the last 1 was taken Aug 14 (retarded growth not shown in pics). Someone suggested it might be root aphids. I've treated my crop with predatory nematodes. And will releasing lady bugs this week.

Take some clear shipping tape put some around the top of the pot so about half the tape the sticky part is above the rim. If you have root aphids they crawl around and you see them on the tape.

I hate to say it, but yeah, that kinda looks like RAs and this is about the right time of flowering for you to start seeing this shit. I was only able to find relief, after months of futzing around, with Triazicide. Someone recently posted that it's best to use Triazicide first, then hit with Merit 75, but there's a problem with the PHI on the Merit--it's a good 60 days, whereas the Triazicide is something like 21 days PHI (PHI=pre-harvest interval, or how much time you need to wait before harvesting after application).

So I also had root aphids before. if you see them on the tape, next step get some Bayer fruit and citrus, vegetable sold at walmart, lowes, home depot. This stuff is a neonicotinoid or like synthetic nicotine. Anyway this stuff works. drench only do not spray this is the stuff that kills the bees and causes colony collapse disorder. I used about 3.50 oz per 5 gallons i left it sit for like 3 hours then flushed. After using Azamax, spinosad, this stuff got the job done quick. The Bayer fruit and vegetable stuff is only like 15 bucks. Drench and Flush in a few hours and its over with they wont come back on this plant. Good Luck Fish

It wasn't effective for my RA issue, the Triazicide was, and I had to flood and keep flooded my trays. I didn't grasp what was happening when they first presented outside, so I didn't treat the OD plants, only once they all made it indoors.

The Bayer F&V is a watered down version of Merit. Both are systemic and both have an approximately 60 pre-harvest interval window, IIRC.

if you had root aphids all your plants would be showing symptoms not just one - that looks like something either ate at your stem/roots or she's been a victim of poor watering practice and is now fighting infection. I have one random tomato plant in my garden looking horrible, the only difference between it and the rest of the plants in my bed is that it gets sunlight an hour before everything else in the bed due to shade, so it's roots are already hot and dry by the time the rest of the garden is ready to water.

Looks like the plant I had last year that had an infection from the branches rubbing on the cage. Check your branches look for damaged stems. This year I put tape on the cage where stems touch. Worked wonders.
