Greeting farm. Just had a question about garden lime. From what I understand garden lime is used to stabilize ph and correct soils outside of optimal range. I am most interested in it's stabilizing powers. I see a number of people use garden lime as a staple of the soil grows irrespective of what the ph is, ie 2 tbsp. Per 5 gallons etc. My question: is this sound practice? If I open up a bag of ocean forest and apply 2 tbsp. of garden lime to a soil mix that is already in optimal range do I run the risk off skewering my ph out of range? Or does garden lime stabilize my mix at a max ph of 7?
Thanks for any and all input.
