I need a new filter for my tent but i was wondering if you would be able to smell the exhaust from your tents if you ran your exhaust pipes out the side and up maybe 12 ft above the ground like a chimney ?
would you be able to smell the exhaust from your tent if you were standing on the ground ? it would be cheaper for me to run a pipe like the picture then to keep buying ac infinity carbon filters

How are your carpentry skills ? I would take on that challenge 👍✌️💨 I’ve earned a living as a carpenter for the last 20 years.

A relatively inexpensive carbon filter would probably be a much less expensive option if that matters .

what ya mean you take on the challenge ? i was asking if it would work and as far as a carbon filter being less expensive you would never have to change the pipe like u do a carbon filter

Depends on which way the wind blows,
If your in an illegal state in the city I would get a carbon filter.

Raw air out your pipe will probably disguise most of it but the moment the wind changes.....everyones going to know.

I’m a carpenter and thought you were asking for opinions and responses. I was trying to answer on a general forum question.✌️💨
He was, he somehow misunderstood what you said in very plain English. Not your fault dude, you always give great responses and the forum is lucky to have you.

I have a long run exhausting out of my place and have a carbon filter also.

Unless you have a giant stand up filter it's going to smell.

Was thinking about rigging up uv lights within my run, but don't know if it's Worth it.

I don't think 12 feet from ground level would be enough, that's only 2 of me and I know I can smell weed from more then 6 feet away and my sense of smell isnt that great.... around 30 feet and I don't think you would have a problem.
If you have an upstairs or tall enough roof, run it through the wall or inside of the house as far as you can up, to the roof if you can but if not exit the house as high as you can then run the rest outside.
If exit out of the roof, you could put a cap right at roof level and it would barely be noticeable, make sure to put screen mesh over the opening before putting the cap on or critters will be coming in.
If you don't have a second floor or tall enough roof, 30 feet of pipe would look awkward.
I would be wondering why there's a brand new pipe there and smoke never coming out of it 🤔
I guess you could say it's for venting a hot water tank or gas heater or something. Just would have to be sized correctly and smokeless gas so the story makes sense.

Well as long as the air is warmer than the outside it should go up then drop when its away from the house somebody would smell it but not close to you.but on no wind days...

Tell you from experience raw unfiltered it will smell it’s not high enough up even with a filter.

If you can rig something at this height it’s ok with a filter

look at the top of the roof & you can see what I ended up having to do. It works a treat mind that’s with a filter

If your exhaust is so Hight up the ground - do you really need a filter?

Those carbon filters are expensive, for sure.

The effectiveness would depend on the dispersal of the molecules that are the source of the odor. What would be needed is to reach a point at which the density of the odor-causing molecules would drop below the threshold for human perception. That, I believe, would require sufficiently mixing the exhaust with fresh air. Some method of fresh air injection into the exhaust might do it.

So, I think it could work. During the summer, I sometimes run a portable air conditioner that blows air out of the room. I asked people if they could smell the weed, and they said they couldn't. In that case, it was mixing air from the tent with air from the room.

I used to walk my dog late at night in a housing track in NorCal. The development had like 2200 homes and was notorious for grow house busts back in 2011 ish. I could smell certain homes on occasion, but I never could tell exactly which homes it came from. That said my Nieghbor had a 20x30' shed with 30 or so hydro plants, he had high quality carbon scrubbers and couldn't smell a thing.

Like another mentioned, it's in a legal area, do whatever you want.....Obv if not, I would recommend scrubbers.

I would say yes you can smell it.

You can drill the rivets off your ac infinity filter and replace the carbon inside for about 1/2 the price of a new filter. YouTube it, very simple.

It has been legal in my state for a long time, but the law says we can't disturb the neighbors. So, it only takes one asshole of a neighbor.

I have the new AC Infinity filters that are made so the carbon can be replaced. They come loaded with carbon and with one replacement. I think the replacement carbon costs about $35. I've had them for about a year and haven't replaced the carbon yet. I keep them disconnected most of the time. My wife lets me know when they need to be connected. That's another way to reduce the cost. It probably works best for folks with small tents, though.

This is part of my run, needs to be tighten up but house doesn't stink.....outside does for a bit.
