Hey guys and gals, first time poster here. So this is my second grow. I have 6 honey banana s1 seeds that I popped and put into 1 gallon pots right at the beginning of July. They all looked happy for the first couple of weeks and then I started getting some weird leaf twisting and curling. I was told that it was probably humidity related and not to worry too much. Anywho, the plants are still growing fairly quickly, they just look a little sad and droopy to me. One plant has some brown spots on the serrated edges of a few leaves.

Here's some basic grow info. Currently in 1 gallon fabric pots filled with happy frog. They'll be getting transplanted into 5 gallon pots of organic roots (green fields). Im only keeping 2 plants in the tent. Tent is 2x4x7. The light is a sf2000 (200w) led that I have set to 90% and 24"....18/6. I have fed some silica, recharge, green aminos, and recently top dressed with natures pride. I check the ph with a pen and liquid solution. I've been told I overwatered, but I'm not sure I'm sold on that. I'm no expert, but I've been growing plants for awhile now and am pretty familiar with watering. Recently I've been giving em about 1 gallon of water split between the 6 pots, maybe every other day or so. Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

1 gallon of water between those 6 pots at that stage every other day seems like underwatering to me. I'm going with "every other day" because "maybe every other day or so" is pretty hard to use objectively.

That's fair. Yea, it's been every other day as of recently. I watered yesterday and checked the pots today...they still had some weight to em and the top of the soil didn't seem too dry.

I think that's foxtailing which if I'm not mistaken can usually be a sign of heat stress or light stress (or both?). I'm going to assume that might be what it is also. That should be a strong light. What's the temperature in there?

I thought foxtailing was related to buds during flower? Either way, the temps with lights on are between 73 and 76, around 60% rh, and a vpd of about 1.0. Lights out should be mid to high 60s as far as temp.

Well, I'm no pro and haven't been doing this too long and am starting to try to get an idea of foxtailing and it got some foxtailing recently during vegetative stage along with some other leaf damage and I ended up having to raise the lights. That seems to have totally stopped the leaf damage and things went well from there. So, in my case it seems like it was light/heat stress on the plants. The temps seems fine, but I think this is kind of where it just comes to you connecting with your plants and trying to see what they tell you. I ended up feeling like it was probably light/heat stress on them (and I already knew the light was close) but didn't take the hint.

But a big reason I'm mentioning this to you is because this started when I switched from a weaker light to a SF1000 which I immediately could tell ran hotter/stronger.

So if you're using a SF2000 I only imagine it's even hotter/stronger than mine and mine if I'm not mistaken pulls like 1000 watts. So maybe your light is too strong for that grow tent/height on the plants?. If you can dim it, I suppose that would be good otherwise not sure what you can do.

I'm just guessing here, giving you something to think about until someone else offers better idea.

Hey, no worries....I appreciate your responses. We're all in this to learn and grow happy plants! My light is 200w, yours is gonna be 100w 🙂

That is exactly what foxtailing is, you are correct, whatever is wrong with your plants has nothing to do with foxtailing, like not even a little bit, there are no buds to fox tail! Pat yourself on the back because you knew that, and that's what growing is about, learning.

I don't know what is wrong with your plants, but I am telling you right now.. Wait for somebody who knows what they are talking about friend, and there are lots of people here!

It could be light intensity, could be under/over water. If you are in living soil, you should be watering with a wet to dry cycle, however long it takes to dry out. My plants drink 4 litres every 4 days for example. I am new to both living soil and LED, so I wont even attempt to give you advice, but someone will drop in soon.

No fox tailing going on there, there's no buds yet lol..

They look a little hungry and over watered to me. I'd also turn the light down to 70%ish

Water by the weight of the pots, not a set time like "every other day or so"

How are you watering your plants friend, like exactly your practices? Do you water them every 2 days? How much water do you give them, and how large are their pots friendo?

They don’t foxtail in veg!!

I thought "foxtailing" was when the green leaves curl upwards from the sides. My bad. I didn't know that was what happened to buds. My reading comprension is getting worse with age, unfortunately. I was referring to the leaves doing that though.

Well I was worried about overwatering, so I gave em a few days to dry out. I prob went a day too far bc the soil became hydrophobic. Had to give em a little water at a time so they could absorb it instead of it running straight through the pot. They are in 1 gallon fabric pots til I transplant to 5 gallon pots this weekend. I split 1 gallon of water between the 6 pots yesterday when I watered and top dressed. I gently water around the base of the plants. I've also been using room temp distilled water in case that matters.

OP, I’m running that same light. Mine is at 40% and about three feet from the plant tops.

I think you’re giving too much light. I would cut your % in half and see how plants respond after a couple days.
How far into veg are you?

I grow perpetually. There are different plants at different stages.

I’ve kept the light the same for probably a year and a half now.
I appreciate your response! I turned the light down from 90% to 70% and will keep an eye on em. Maybe I'll raise the light up 6 inches or so as well.

That’s called tacoing. Comes from heat or light stress . Sometimes over feeding will do it, broad mites will make them roll up too!
