9 days since last watering. Yeah this is the issue. Or at least the main issue. They can't breath. Big big reduction in volume of water will help a lot.

So .5 gallons of water is too much for a 2 gallon pot ? The 9 day dry back was just the time it took for it to dry out from the last water or " over water ". So your recommended less than a half gallon of water per pot ?

Been 9days since last watered. I was expecting some kind of "perk up" from the dry back. Ladies still aren't happy. Soil is extremely dry. I've also noticed yellowing of the bottom leaves. Should I give them their first nute feed an see where this goes ?

I would water them. As for adding nutrients, I'm not sure. Yellowing of the lower leaves isn't always because they need nutrients. I think I'd just use plain water.

Nine days seems like a long time, but maybe not if the soil was too wet.

Could I see a close-up picture of the leaves?

I'm in a 7 gallon pot and I water with 1/2- 3/4 gallon every 3 days. Again the 3 day dry cycle is what you wanna focus on. In a 2 gallon pot I would start off with 1/2 quart 1/8th gallon. Water evenly then let sit 20 minutes. Check the bottom of pot for moisture with your meter. You want the top to be wet bottom just moist. But you wanna make sure you don't have dry spots either.. but yes just enough water to get the bottom damp. Very very little water compared to what you have been doing. The goal again is to find that 3 day dry time.

Your lights might be to close also. I would reduce light, and change your water habits, give it a couple weeks and see if they turn around.

I just watered one of my plants. Here is my meter out of the soil dry.

I am in a 7 gallon pot with promix so different soil then you, and a different size pot. But watering habits should be the same between the different pot size and medium.

I watered 1/2 gallon let sit for 20 minutes. Top of the pot 2 inches in reads this.

Just barely at the bottom of the green wet but not overly wet.

Here is the meter at the bottom of the pot.

Just nice and evenly moist across the bottom of the pot.

Since we are in different medium and different pot sizes, the amount of water needed will be different. The end result should be the same or close to it. Every setup is different so it's hard to give direct instructions, but at the end of the day make the goal a 3 day dry time. When you water you want the pot to be light and ready for watering again at as close to 3 days as you can make it. Adjust the amount of water you give until you have this result. Once you get that down then you will know how much to water.

My light is set at 30in from pots so just over 2ft. The ppfd is at 375 which is within spec for this stage of growth. My DLI is at 22.5-23. My original thought was too much light, many people have said it was over watering so I let it dry back in total 9days. Going to be watering tomorrow with nutes. I Will take even longer to water pots. I will try your 1/4-1/8 gal at a time method an see how they react. Wish me luck

Good luck they need very little volume of water start with 1/4 quart 1/8th gallon, wait check, add a little (very little) more if needed.


Now if you are relying on a ppfd reading on where to set your light, we probably need to do more talking. For example, different strains need different light intensity, different times in the plant life need different light intensity (seedling, veg, early flower, mid flower, late flower, then you have nutes, waterimg habits, type of light, the list just goes on and on. Plus most ppfd meters are inaccurate. Using a ppfd meter to determine where the light should be is a recipe for failure. The ppfd meter should only be used to give you an idea of the light intensity. It should never be used as a guide to where your light should be placed.


A good example to explain this is I have plant A and plant B in different tents, they are different strains. One in veg can handle 930 ppfd, the other one can only handle 750 ppfd.


Relying on a ppfd meter for placement of the light is a mistake.

A mistake I made my self. You need to read the plant it's the only way to do it properly.

@GowerX616 i grow my pants start to finish in 1.75 gallon pots not fabric, but close on soil volume.
I use a standard water bottle you would buy bottled water in its like 500ml.
I water once a week in veg, using roots organic soil, one full bottle.
I water every other day in flower, one full bottle.
Usually giving two bottles every 3rd water in flower.
I also use organic top dress and not salts, so there is a difference there.
This can also vary dependent on strain, but that's my base line start point.
As dry as your soil is I would water 1 bottle at a time letting it soak in, before adding the next, till i got substantial run off to make sure the soil is completely saturated, then go to the once a week time, or every 3-4 days since you are in fabric pots.
Keep in mind though, as dry as your soil is, you are going to get runoff immediately because the water will pass through quicker than the dry soil can absorb it. Usually 3 bottles (500ml each) is enough to completely saturate the soil in a 2 gal pot and allow for a 7 day dry to get to the once a week one bottle threshold.
Now that you showed the temps there is no way I let them stay on the floor bro.
To each their own though, and with all the good advice you got I am sure you will figure out what works best for you in your spot.

Thanks everyone for the advice. I definitely was over watering them. I watered them 2 days ago with their FIRST shot of veg nutes and added a little bit of cal mag an barely used 1/4-1/2 a gallon for BOTH POTS. They seemed to have liked it. They have perked back up and are thriving like normal.
