Safe to just reuse same soil?

what’s up folks.. just wondering if i can use the same soil that I used when I chop down a recent plant? Or do I have to flush it and make sure nothings inside to harm new plant/seed

Iv read somewhere that u can reuse it. If it as been flushed with pH nutrual. Water. But I'd look for more on this. I suppose depends on what medium u grow with. But gl with it if u do..

I’m sure i can? Just because it’s soil and I haven’t put any nutrients in. On top of that it’s fox farm soil

I would. I want fresh stuff each time for best results. I am most interested in drainage and ph stability. Plus there are so much roots and not much soil in my 3 gal pots at harvest.

However the “living soil” crowd will have a very different opinion on this. They use enzymes to disintigrate roots and mix in fresh compost and ammendments or simply replant like with outdoor garden beds.

When I get my indoor going again, my plan is to use fresh soil in the indoor, and at the end of each round to throw it in the compost pile to reuse it in the veggie garden.

It can be reused, but it needs to be treated before being used again. There are nutrients bound to it, and in the ways that throw off pH. There's also the risk of any eggs of any pests that were around being in the used soil. Fungus gnats and thrips, I'm looking at you.

I soak my used mix in hot water to leech everything out, then let it drain out. Then I run around the same volume of boiling water over it, and let that cool. Then it gets re-amended with EWC, 4-4-4, and rock dust, as well as inoculated with good bacteria. (Bacto)

If you want to go to that kind of trouble to save dirt, it can be reused.
