Automate your light deprivation with a motorized shade over your greenhouse on a timer.

Brother, this is the twenty FIRST century, there's no need to work hard at this! Automation is your friend! I'm not well set up for it this summer, but next year... yeah, light depo in a couple of 100' greenhouses? LOL

Ah ha!!!! This is the thing, my brain is not wired all that mechanical....I have been trying to figure out automation for a while and would love any tips/pointers that I can get. Please, help a brother out Ty!!

Thanks a lot Ken!!!!I was wondering if you were doing the damn thing this year! Shit it seems like you have a good thing going with your spot, I am sure that you are also enjoying the availability to leave over night if you want. Yeah I got a German Shepherd that helps with the rascals, but man they suck! Killed a baby rattler the other day, I am sure more are to come.

As for rippers? I am not too worried about them but they do come in mass during the fall.....I've had many friends get there shit topped especially when the first fall rain comes

Rattlers...lol...reminds me of growing up AZ...lol. I remember many a days sitting there shooting a snake with a BB gun while it sat there and laughed at me as a youngster. How about scorpions?

The Rattlers like to lay under the black-out tarps!
Be careful Sanvana!

Honestly it is not as hard as you might imagine, dep takes about 30 minutes a day, well worth the work of not having to wait all the way till october
so true! I agree the work is far worth it. in fact I live in the most southern so cal and I can grow out door ALL YEAR minus or add light. All these are at different levels of flower or veg all outside, No atoumatic lazy Motor, to bad for me hu.lol

First never trust a timer Ever! Second lazy people make lazy weed, personal love and care go along way, like he said dep takes 30 min with care and extra atention, I love it, beats the robot all day. more tech more problems.Keep up the love and hard work Sanvanalona

I see your LOL and raise you a Golden Arm Canopy Hoist. Just found this, holy shit, coolest idea ever and easy mechanics for the DIY folks out there.

First, I pity the poor benighted soul above who has somehow convinced himself that simple machines can't be trusted to save time and effort. I wonder if he walks to work? He has to have a computer to post here... I smell hypocrisy, or at least an indignant mistrust of technology he depends on every day whether he knows it or not.

Now, about that greenhouse cover- am I the only one who thinks that looks a lot like the tarp cover on a truck going to the dump? No way that's too hard to build...

I am sold!!!! That is awesome! Thanks for the post. We had some weird rain here a couple weeks back and I had bud mold on my nicest heads from my first pull, but the second is looking all good thankfully. ill post some finished pics soon.

Very disrespectful talk, I only intercjected my opinion. I Personaly don't use or trust timers when it comes to my plants light cycles! im not a hypocrite that's how I feel about timers. You don't know me so please stop with your crap talking its not appreciated. I interjected an opinion that's what fourms are for. and how I get to work has nothing to do with anything, infact I don't work for some one else I work at home! because my project allows that. This instantly proves how little you know about me and how false your assumption can be. So please don't assume stuff about me or my project. Many many farmers light dep with out a robot waste of money piece of failable equiptment, when they can do them it them self and produce amazing crop. Its my opinion that its a waste of mone and can be done by hand. like I said I feel better going through the personal care and making sure everything is on spot and up to par. again keep up the hard work Sanvanalona. Do it your way bro, what ever it may be.

I never mentiond computers, and I know I rely on tech every day and never said I didn't, this shows your ignorance and inability to back your point. I said more tech more problems, I didn't say my life is void of tech, yet you some how read all that into it to make me look like a fool (why would you do this). you are trying to exaggerate stretch and warp what I said to fit your use and belittle. These are classic tactics of those who lack knowledge or experience to back there point. The best part is, is that I stated opinons witch bye the way are subjective. Nothing I said deserves the attitude and disrespect that you have shown me. Sorry Savanalona that there was a disturbance on your page. going to cut the light in a week and start flower cant wait.

Nice grow here Sanvanalona!
Looking forward for some outdoor grow when I move in to my new house, lot of inspiration around here!
New to this forum, just posted my Aquaponics journal from another forum.
Read that you were thinking a bit of running a outdoor Hydro run ? Why not just go all fishy ?

Are you using any lights at all when growing outdoor ?
Dunno if you already know of these, but they look really cool:

So in short, you disagree with me. Fair enough. I didn't make it personal, I used relevant examples to point out the apparent absurdity of your position. If I struck a nerve, maybe that isn't my issue....

Back to light depo tech. for a moment; has anyone found any automated/motorized covers?

I'm thinking the great results many report have a lot to do with the UVB that's relatively abundant during high summer. I bet this effect would be even stronger at high altitudes, like way up in the Colorado Rockies maybe? Light drool in high summer means no risk of frost, less risk of discovery, less risk of rippers... hmmm...

Rocky Mountain High, anyone?

Wow you call that not personal? Those were inentionaly condescending statements, and that's that. There was no place for your comment above, and no reason for you to bring this back into this thread.. as you said you disagree with my stance on timers, so what? to each there own, advocate what you believe without being rude please. no need to condescend , use facts not feelings. Use knowledge and experience to prove your point not subjective, emotionaly rooted comments.

That wasn't personal. Nor was it 'subjective' or 'emotionally rooted,' no, those were 'facts.' You want 'personal' from me? No. You haven't earned it.

I'm not going to spend any more of a good thread on this subject.

Still not one fact, only false statements and emotions, please feel free to attach a fact or two to something you say. Your comment on me being a "poor benighted soul" is easily marked as subjective, being that its your opinion.Definition of subjective.

  1. not impartial: based on somebody's opinions or feelings rather than on facts or evidence.
let the audience decide if you are making staments that cant be backed like "That wasn't personal. Nor was it 'subjective" when I easily proved the subjectivity of the statement. Id like to know what other false info your spreading?
