Hello everyone, this is my very first grow and I chose a moby dick xxl auto. Even though it was auto I did top it once, and trained it. It turned out oretty good but I am on day 98 and trichromes are not milky yet and leaves are starting to turn crispy on the buds. Wondering if anyone could help me as I am not sure whether to wait or do an early harvest.

Well all the suger leaves are yellow already so alls left is the buds.
The buds are still ok however as said not ready to harvest.
I would wait till it’s ready keeping an eye on the buds you cut it early and the highs not there , the buds taste like grass & can sometimes upset the stomach
Witchever way bud except a tricky harvest.
Alls not lost just keep a eye on the buds

Oh man I may just harvest it after 98days? Is that days of flower or seed to now? Those sure are dry looking colas/buds look nice and hard but sometimes trichs don't always turn into amber. Have you snipped a bud off and looked under a magnifier away from the bright led? I check both ways and under low light. What happened to all the leaves?

Yeah the buds are nice and hard. 98 days from seed to harvest. The leaves started turning yellow during the natural fade at the flowering stage but when I checked with a magnifier to see if buds are done, they were still clear and while I waited for them to ripen, all leaves turned yellow and fell off but they will weren't ready. They are still like 50% clear and 50% milky right now. I do not know what I did wrong as it is still my first grow so now I am just wondering if I should just harvest now or buds will go next.

That's always so hard to say to do. I've waited and waited several times and just seems to be the plant saying not yet? Happens to many growers but man if they all don't go cloudy in 7days and if you notice them not taking up water as fast that's a signal are the hairs there all red?

Yeah all hairs are red. Lately I've noticed very little like pistils emerging from the buds and I do not know what that's about either. Plant is still drinking well.

As it gets nearer to harvest time the pistols stop forming and the flowers look more bud like. That it’s still drinking well means it’s still growing.

I should still give it like a week or 10 days to see if it turns cloudy ? I just worry that soon there will be not more leaves and will that affect the buds ?

The leaves are already gone there’s none left that I can see.
The buds should be ok just harvesting it will be a pita as you’ll have to cut the dead leaves out
Hopefully you’ll have better results next time 🙂

Well, that's part of why you don't top autos. They aren't really flexible in their timeline at all. You delayed the bud growth and ran out the clock on your vegetative leaves that provide the nutrients to finish the buds. Live and learn! I'm sure you could pull it pretty soon and will still cure pretty well - definitely leave on the stem until all the moisture and carbs has pushed out to the buds, then do a really perfect cure. Worst case, buy a hash agitator and a nice set of bags and get yourself enough hash for months. Don't forget to cure the hash, either!

Okay, yeah that probably explains it. Next time I'll do an auto, I'll let grow by itself. Thanks for the input man, appreciate it.

I would cut a piece of a lower bud off…dry it for a day or two and smoke it. That will tell you where the plant is potency wise.
I do a test branch when I think it’s ready and if I’m pleased then it’s even better because it had a extra week
Take me 7 days to dry so chop a small branch dry it nice and slow and try it in a week

Will the buds continue to ripen without the leaves ? Or will they remain the same and I should just harvest it ?

That should be ok unless they are getting dry crispy if that’s the case I would chop jmo

And stop watering and feeding it. Then nature will take it's course.

I grow photo mobys all the time getting to amber with these is not a simple task some just don’t want to amber up unless perfect conditions
If your milky you might pick a day and get her done amber might not come without cold snap that what usual makes mine start turning amber but again perfect conditions and healthy plant with leaves
There’s not much left to your plant but buds leaves give it the wet to produce I don’t feel like waiting will help much but I might be wrong
At the pint you ate I would check trichome n cut when to preference but not sure they will get amber sorry
Mine gets amber in November after a real cold snap like 35 40
They almost have to be scared to do it if that’s the case makes sence
