Seven pounds of marijuana found in Atkinson home
ATKINSON, N.H. —An Atkinson couple was arrested Monday after investigators found 7 pounds of marijuana in their home on Crown Hill Road.
Robert Zdrada is a well-known sports photographer, volunteer and athletic booster in the Timberlane Regional School District, and his wife, Valerie Zdrada, does senior portraits for local high school students.
The couple, who has lived in Atkinson for more than 30 years, said they never expected to end up in police mug shots.
The Zdradas were charged with felony possession with intent to distribute. They were released on bail, but 65-year-old Robert Zdrada told News 9 that there is another side to the story.

In a phone interview Wednesday night, Robert Zdrada said he could not discuss anything related to the criminal charges, but did talk about his medical history.
He revealed that in the last eight years, he has endured serious health problems, including heart disease, pneumonia and cancer of the tongue that ravaged his mouth. He said he lives every day in chronic pain, making eating difficult.
Robert Zdrada said that his condition would qualify him to use therapeutic cannabis under New Hampshire’s medical marijuana law, but it has yet to be fully implemented.
The Zdradas are due in court in December. The school district told News 9 that it has cut ties with the couple pending the outcome of the investigation.
