Retired, disabled and getting older by the seconds.
I am opening a welding fabrication shop focusing on making parts and equipment for mines .
Just venting
My shop had to be wired up properly first thing and I have never wired a building nor even a house .
After wiring my shop I knew why I never became a electrician .
dealing with thick wires that super hard to bend inside electrical box or receptacle sucks..
my hat is off to everyone in this business.
I retired as a mine maintenance mechanic/supervisor in charge of the Hitachi shovels 3500 series and up for gold mines .
I am financing the whole business . and needing pretty much everything to do with welding fabrication shop and service truck with a crane and 600amp miller air pak
I cannot tell you about all the issues that have came up with things I never experienced before in same business that I am starting now .
I am battling the steel supplier, Quoted me one price and when I got the bill after the steel had been delivered the price had gone up 57%.
After having to be a jerk I got the steel at the right rate , that time only to have the same problem on the second delivery .
Now I have switched steel suppliers ...
I am not willing to waist my time on any steel order ......... I ask for quote ,, if i like the quote then I order and Pay before the steel is shipped and delivered.
There should only be words like here is your steel .. Have fun making what ever your making ....
And me it should be Thank you have a safe drive back
I wanted to get the pieces of these parts pre made , I am making that I spec out on the computer pre cut and bent out certain thickness of materials ,,that was made out 5.5 inch PVC Pipe .
Only to find out no one carries 5.5 inch PVC because it is no longer popular. the only 5.5 inch pvc pipe to be had is in china at one/ 20th of the cost here in the USA .
So I started to roll my own Tubing/pipe
Getting my steel pre cut to sizes. I was being over charged.
I am now looking for a Plasma burn table .
Part of my shop is also a machine shop with 3 large lathes , one is 120 inches between centers and a bridge port mill .
So my shop will be getting cluttered with the burn table and I will no longer get a fork lift any way so I might be welding outside any way.
LOL and i signed up for this .
I have designed a Part for the blast hole drills That lightened the OEM part from 55 pounds to 8 pounds that the driller has to pull it from below his feet all the way up to his neck every hole he drills .
I do allot TIG welding and I enjoy Tig welding allot, but i have allot of welders.
I dont have laser welder and a sub arc YET .
Been building welding tables, welding carts and grinder/ cold saw/ vice stands
And modifying the shop , i knew the roll up door is to low and its a matter of time before someone takes it out with the fork lift ..
But I needed a for lift now and most likely will buy a new door and modify the building so the door will fit so the fork lift will fit through the door .
