This is my first grow Just wondering if I should top the plants and what the pros and cons are? I am running an Ebb&gro setup with 12 buckets. They are in a 8x5 room.

Here are a few pics. The light screws up the pic.

When you top the plants it helps them not to stretch so tall and they will begin to grow bushier and not super tall. Hope this helps

Not at this point. I top all me plants but I do it when there little. If you flip them now those things should fill up that room. Looks like you have some nice healthy bushes there. Should fill up nicely. My dad recently started growing in one of those systems. Kept tellin him to flip. He kept sayin there so small. Now he knows.

id get that main stem at about 5to6 nodes down from the top then squeeze it till the top wants to fall ova 90°, doin this will promote the branches below the fold to catch up to the top and create an canopy of sorts, shud fill out your space without topping and you will still get a lovely main cola

Thanks for all of the great info. Next question is should I start triming all of these big fan leaves off so the other branches can get some better light? or should I trim them after I start flowering?

They are beutiful, I would not top them. That's your biggiest bud, the top. I would tie the branches in a way to get more light. Never top them and keep the big leaves on the plant. After 2 weeks into flowering then prune off the bottom brances that are not doing shit. Also if you have a horizontal light you want to bend or tie your main stem horizontal to get more light. I do that 2 weeks into flowering or when the plant stop growing and it's just flowering. Very good for the first time.

Why not trim the big leaves blocking light from the center of the plant?

trimming fan leaves off is 1 of those things for growers, u either do it or u dont, i personly dont but i do bend them in thus creating light for the lower buds, just have to keep on top of em, but i have seen threads where people do and they looked sound, so imo i think its down to the grower and their experiences, just keep folding the leaves down below the canopy and u shud be fine bro. hb
