Should I trim some fan leaves

None of the pots are full from what I can see. It's ok to back-fill around the stem when it's time to remove some fan leaves. You really want those pots to be filled within an inch of the top.

I make it very overwhelming when there is nothing to be overwhelmed about!! Just noticed new leaves were wilting under some big fan leaves and didn’t want it to kill them if it does that! Should start getting real exciting these next few weeks

I am growing autos for first time. I’ve read a lot about not stressing autos because of short lifespan of autos. Yesterday I did trim a tiny amount of fan leaves from each plant. Today I noticed that a lot of bud sites were still being covered. I’m not sure if this has ever been a thing but I came up with idea that may be useful to some. Instead of clipping more leaves I kind tucked a bunch of fan leaves down. That exposed a lot of bud sites. The first pic look at plant closest to camera then look at second pic. I

probably doubled the amount of bud sites with minimum stress.

Today I found that the fan leaves are starting to pop back up. Probably due to photosynthesis and the fact that fan is blowing plants around and allowing them to resurface. So I tucked them back down. I’m convinced that after doing this for a bunch of days that the bud sites will grow enough that they overpower the fan leaves. I’ll keep everyone informed.

Could just turn the fan up so all parts get light. Which also inhibits light saturation.
Fan leafs are solar panels, why cut your power source?

Part of defoliation is to remove fan leaves. With autos you don’t want to stress plants but you still need to get light to the bud sites. So I’m thinking that tucking them eliminates stress while allowing bud sites to get much needed light. Not sure what turning up the fan would do. Maybe fan leaves will blow around and bud sites will get more light, but tucking them gives sites light 100% of time.

I think he meant let them get as much light as they can without tucking them. The bud sights will eventually pop out into the open when the stretch begins. Also, look into trellising, might be your cup of tea.
