My name is LowWater and my cat is addicted to scratching tree trunks. I'm fine - it's just my cat. OK, are these in Air-Pot WALLS, planted without a base? If so, have you noticed post-harvest if the root structures intermingle from one tree to the next. Or is this your first season?

They are smart pots with a base on a gravel landing. No intermingling...

Well...not on purpose... :-)
I also had a Thrips infestation about 6 mos. ago that created some really unusual stress, which in the long run, created some nice bushes as a result!
Not a recommended method however ;)
