So i live in the country and my house water is like an 8.0 8.4 it’s high so I’ve been lowering the ph down with lemon juice to I believe at least 7 or lower by the gallon to attempt to lower my soils ph. I’m using Fox farm soil mostly with a lil bit of my native ground which sits at a lil higher than 7 by itself. I’ve been using water treated with the lemon for about a week and the ph is still sitting above 7 some plants closer to 8. The only thing I’ve noticed different is I’ve got one plant left in a pot that I haven’t moved to the ground and it’s around 6.5 and it looks the best in general I just don’t get why everything would change so much after moving them into the yard? I never even checked the ph until I recently seen the decline the plants took after the move so I’m super new to learning how ph works and how to adjust everything to keep the girls happy. Any advice is welcome thanks

Without pics it’s difficult, but for starters, quit messing with the soil ph. FFOF is fine out of the bag, it’s buffered. Your 7.0 ph native soil is fine too. While lemon juice will work to lower ph in your nute water, it’s short lived, I’d get a phosphoric acid ph down. Just worry about the ph of the water/nute solution, around 6.2-6.5.

You could use Dolomite Lime to sweeten the soil a bit. You can get amounts needed on farming sights. I don't see how your top soil PH can be that big an issue. To my way of thinking the problem is in the Peat Moss. RE: The Fox Farm amended potting mix. As peat moss runs around 5.5. This is why I don't believe the issue is your Top soil.

You would be far better off using a couple of bags of Black Earth top soil rather than the FF potting mix. Make a simple microbe solution.
Dig the hole a little large and add a 6" nursery pot full of finished compost, give the hole and compost a good soaking with microbe solution before transplanting. 1/2 bucket.

You don't have to strain it just throw it all in the bucket and run it threw a strainer at the end if your going to use a watering can.
Transplant your seedlings and water them in well with the microbe solution.
Then watering them in with this.

You can use garden centre compost and some Muskie.
This works great.

In the mean time. Make a 20L bucket of There are no weeds.

A little Bone Meal is important make sure you add 1/2 cup to top soil of each plant!
Top dress and scratch in 1/2 cup again when you note flowering has started.

There are other amendments you can add like wood ash for minerals.

How many ppm are in that tap water? It sounds like it's well water?

I use citric acid as pH down, works better than lemon juice.

They are like two and half months old plants. We think the ph of our dirt effecting the growth
