I know a lot of you guys with experience say not to buffer. I didn't pH last run and I think 2 plants locked up on me and never really recovered. I harvested but potency wasn't there compared to plants that did not lock out. I have been bubbling my nutes and cal mag to pH this run and plants have never looked better but it is a pain in the ass. I am new to this and could have easily misdiagnosed my problem as too much acid resulting in lock out. I have read many posts on here that say soil will naturally buffer acids but after losing those last 2 plants I have been playing it safe. My tap water has chloramines in it so I go with RO from those Arctic water machines around the area and add cal mag.

Any advice or opinion you care to share will be greatly appreciated.

this is why i stopped buffing

"too much acid resulting in lock out"

all because my ph meter needed to be recalibrated and i didnt know.
ive never looked back since. :)

i personally think that in soil using RO water there would be no reason to buff.
because the soil will naturally buff your PH
also how often are you adding cal mag?

I add cal mag almost every watering if I have it. Usually 2 out of 3 waterings.

You use coco or soil?? Even on OGs i only PRECHARGE coco with calmag. .That's it..

i know to often watering with cal mag will creat a specific lock out..
forgot which.
but the cal actually will bind up in the plants veins.
i only gave them cal mag 4x total throughout grow.
twice in veg, twice in flower in coco

Thx tailz, I will back off on cal mag. I have a 5 gal jug of RO bottling right now :)
That will be one less thing to worry about and make my life a little easier.

i ws die hard coco bro,
i really do love the stuff.
but now i have so much riding on my grows i cant afford those hiccups anymore.
i use canna cogro, its a 2 part.
then i use home and gardens bud xl half way through flower.

Cool...what made you switch?? O guess coco Just love's me...Some thrive some don't. I like coco cuz it allows me to Stalk my plant's .Love just watching.

The Earth Juice lineup and I will top dress with with insect frass and fish hydroslate. I have been top dressing with neem meal in veg. I follow some of the threads on here and copy a lot of ideas from Cap's Bennies thread. I brew up tea with EWC, AH, molasses and Cap's foliar and roots 7 to 10 days. As I look at this, I am probably guilty of overdoing it. But, the plants are loving it, healthiest I have had.

lol, i jus had lost a bunch of clones
also they were basically stuck in a stasis.
they hadnt grown or anything in over a week then started shitting out.
turning yellow, droopy
so i pulled what i could bought 10 bags of soil and went to work.
within a couple days everything came to life.
figured maybe it was just time for a switch.

Yeah cap KNOWS his shit . Jumping on his packs soon...I use heavy 16 full lineup . Bout to switch it up and use mkp with the fire!! Yes I've learned LOTS from the farm .

i wouldnt change a thing then.
if nutrition wise they are getting everything and thriving,
you can focus on things to up yields like training, light heights ect..
