Got a package today
20161216 132553

My soldering iron is in storage somewhere so I guess I will be getting a new one...

those 3 lil white rings in the pic next to the cob holders are the reflector adapters;there has to be a postion on the heatsinks where both the cob holder and that apdapter works together.it also helps hold down the cob more evenly.i use them on everything still even though i dont use reflectors anymore.

There is a way that they fit flush but it didnt come with self tapping screws and I would have to drill, which wouldnt be a problem if I were in a house with a garage and tools.
I never dreamed they would be that bright, I think they are almost as bright as my 1200watt pink cob

Do not look into the cob lmao.
I think its brighter than my 1200 watt cob
Before, when I would take a pic with lights on you could only see a bright purple blur, now, the cree cobs actually over ride the purple hue. This is what it looks like with both lights on, whe I get my other light and get them in the bigger tent I think I should be good for flower.

what up man, been a min since i seen ya around.as far as matching or beating a 600w hid the best high quality panel i know of is this one from plc
if you get 2 or more they are about 775.00 each and you wont find a higher quality cob panel imo. if you choose to build your own theres so many ways to go lol.450w of cobs driven at 1050ma or 1400ma is going to be as good or better than a 600hps imo and 500w of cobs will spank a 600 . the plc fixture comes in around 1.80 per watt plug n play and you can build your own for about 1.50 to 1.60 depending on cobs used.if ya use the cheapest cobs and heatsinks it can be done for 1.20 to 1.30 per watt but i prefer cree chips and pin style heatsinks.
Had to go through some stuff to find my way to my current situation. Doing great and opening a new room now. Just keep seeing the cob lights and I'm blown away. I would like to do one or 2 of these maybe 3 or 4 cobs a piece. Just not tech savy to be honest. As far as building the actual light I mean. But with a thread like this I think I can probably get it figured. Anyway really happy to see u killing it. U were always a crazy solid dedicated grower man. Mad respect. I'll definitely be in touch man.

larf factor is low bro, with the spacing 12 in oc im getting awesome coverage.i have some newer setups run at higher watts that i spaced 16 in between bars/cobs so im waiting to see if those have the same growing down low but so far those look just as good as the 12 in spaced plants.

If you can run less cobs harder isn't that a little more efficient money wise or does it cut the lifespan of the cob or driver significantly and it's not worth it?
What is the normal lifespan of a cob?

Well lifespan of the cob is still really long like 5 years of 12/12 at full rated power which is way higher than most of us run them for growing.but its a bit of a balancing act between cost up front vs cost to power them and other factors of efficiency. Running them at 35,50 or even 62w is going to be the most lumen per watt or par watts vs heat watts.but even a hard driven cob setup will be more efficient then a hid setup.but lets not forget lamp replacement costs and cooling costs with hid as well.lets say i spent 2000.00 on cobs ,heatsinks, and drivers for the first spot i setup which was 4.5 x 12 feet and holds 3 large plants.i cropped the first of 3 plants at 600grams and the other 2 were right there as well 1 being 720g and 1 being 550g.@250 an oz you can see how half a plant pays for equipment and the rest is butter on the bread lol.plus i went from 1800w in that space to 1250w of cob and uv lamps so i instantly reduced electric use and cooling and yields went up just slightly.how can i not continue to change over the whole room lol ?
My patients have commented on how good the smoke has been lately, strains they been smoking for over 5 or 6 years now ;)

How many cobs in that 4.5x12 area six and how are you driving them?at 50w?My rooms are 12x12 and I run them with two rows and a walk down the center so almost the same area as you except I'm running 3 gavita 750s(2250)over each 4x12,be nice to cut that in half.

30 cobs in that space about 11 inch spacing and 12 in from bar to bar in 3 rows and about 12in off the walls.that spot is all ran @ 35w per cob.the rest of the other part of the room is a mix of 50w ,62w and 75w cobs.50w are spaced 12in and the 62w are spaced 16in.the 75w are in a square config spaced @22in so 54 cobs total with many more on the way haha.i just need to find time to build them and hang em :)
