Been using the Fox Farm Lite Warrior and it to me has too much courseness in the blend... having to do some serching for the seeds and help them get break out of the soil. Dont get me wrong, I have 68 solos and had to help 6 or seven cups of Nirvanna ak47.. which seems to be the only ones..lol

What I do is germinate in paper towels and when I see at least a 1/4 inch tail I move it to a cup.

What is a better mix with out all the perlite? Plus it floats up a lot when trying to feed.

if you want to buy something good for seedlings, why not get an all organic seedling mix at home depot or something?...hardly any perlite but usually with added vermiculite instead

I did that today. But all I could find was miricle grow. still has perlite but way smaller, and much finer...oh well lets see how MG will do.

Id just use a decent potting or seed mix without perlite just a bit of vrmiculite . Im having trouble with some of my seedlings that have 45% perlite in the mix drys out to quick .

yes it does..lol this MG says organic and its really has a lot of pete in it. We will see how it makes out.

Bowski did you ever try rockwool for starting seeds. Sometimes the tail comes up out of the hole. Just use a twiser to pull it out, open the hole a little more , place the seed back in, pull the hole close a little.

I forgot, I needed to open the hole before I put the seed in.

Homedepot should carry the organic Jiffy starter soil. Just check P.H I think it runs low? I was told that the Jiffy pucks run low.

well to my surprize! I thought my ak47 wasnt going to germ so I gave up on 7 of them and threm them in a cup of water and forgot them till last night. went back in the room to water and looked in the cup and they had cracked with litle tails. now see if they can root and thrive.

Why dont you pop your seeds in jiffy pellets? You can get 72 of em and a dome together at home depot

@G gnome True ..That usually comes with the wicking mat also.and then I bought extra pucks for 4.$

I think..

After experiencing a bad bag of Light Warrior this year, I tried those water expandable coco pellets for germinating my seeds. I did a quick 12 hour seed soak in well water and then they were popped directly into the pellets. They worked sweet. Once they took root, I transplanted them into solo cups with a light compost mix of mine. For me personally, I avoid the cheaper commercial ones like Jiffy and others. I got 50 coco pucks for 10 bucks. Side note: Before wetting the pellets I like to cut the bottom of the netting open just a bit to let the roots grow out easier.

FYI:I learned to never give up on seed germination. I've had some seeds pop after 4-5 weeks of planting. ie. This year I tried popping up some Affy seeds from 1986 which were planted in beer cups. After a few weeks and no signs of any of them breaking the soil I gave up, dumped the soil back into my starter mix which is stored in a 5 gallon pail. I put a lid on the pail and put it outside under my deck. The bucket was exposed to below freezing temps at night. About 2-3 weeks later I needed some of the starter soil, I opened up the lid and there were 6 Afghani seedlings popped through the dirt and healthy as could be. Go figger'

Food for thought: I have had seeds pop up in 12-14 hours and now I've seen some that were birthed at 4-5 weeks. Don't give up on seeds.

whats funny is I buy the jiffy plugs and trays to pop my wife and little girl tomato seeds..lol guess I will do that.
as for the seeds i will just put the in some soil off to the side and see what happens.
Thanks to all!

whats the deal with buying seeds on the farm? I click the buy now button and nothing happens?
I really need some good genectics...Blue Dream, Lady Bug, and some good top notch sativas.
Im a inside grower but a month ago I put out some 18 to 24 inch white widow x big bud and they have already started budding? I was thinking it would be around october or close to it. did some research and every one is saying in Florida you cant put crosses out side after they were in 18-6
I mean.. I could rear them bigger in doors untill they are big enough i guess. Or should I find a better strain for outdoor growing in Florida?

Start your seeds with 18/6 and a month/ half before you move them outside start cutting your time down by 1/2hr a week until you get to 15/9 and go for a week at 15/9 and see what happens when you move outside..you want your plants to be at your time clock..if your days are 15hrs long when you go out. That should keep them from flowering from what I read.

They might try to reveg on you soon.you will need to do light deprivation to finish,as the days get longer to reach 12hrs dark.
You put them out to early.

Ok I get what your saying... But is this just conducive to southern states? How do they grow outside where the farmer is starting the seeds outside or at least in the regular enviroment where his plants are huge trees?

@Bowski It's later in the summer when you have at least 13/14 hrs of sunlight . I believe I've read where cannabis needs at least 13 hrs of light to stay in veg.i will see if I can locate where I read this.

I have six GSC I will be moving outside in about 2-3weeks.we should be closer to longer days by then. I've been dropping my time down from 18/6 to15/9 (so my lights come on at 6:00 in tha morning and go off around 9:00 at night) closer to my day light hrs..
