I recently got the book Teaming with Microbes by Lowenfels and Lewis. It's really remarkable to me that I can do a good grow without nutes or pesticides. What an eye opener!
Seems to me that good soil is the key. It looks like Subcool is on to a great soil mix, and I'm thinking of following his recommendations. Right now I don't have bone/blood meal, and have started some plants with this soil mix based on B1's recipe (see https://www.thcfarmer.com/community/threads/pro-mix-hp.7386/.)
However, I am substituting FFOF for Pro Mix/Sunshine Mix, since that is what I have. I hope that's okay. My plants seem to be vegging pretty well. As soon as I get rooting clones, I'm going to flower some of them.
Soiless Mix #2:
6 parts Pro Mix BX or HP / Sunshine Mix or whatever
2 parts perlite
2 parts earthworm castings
Powdered dolomite lime @ 2 tablespoons per gallon or 1 cup per cubic foot of the soiless mix.
Plus:
Use all these items combined with one gallon of soil mix.
1/3C hi N Guano (Mexican Bat Guano)
1/2C hi P Guano (Jamaican or Indonesian Bat Guano)
1TBS Jersey Greensand
1TBS Kelp Meal
No urgent questions, really. Any comments greatly appreciated, though.
