Hi guys,
I upgraded my reflector to the Double ended type (magnum style) and planing to use Ushio DE red

Do you think Solis Tek(I had it as previous ballast for my single ended bulb) will work just fine ??

I have love for solis-tek when I use Hortilux. Now heard a lot of rumors say solis-tek will not even work.
I will get light flicking, Ushio bulb will explore , Lumatek run better will double ended.

I am not in budget to buy Gavita ballast. Please skip that idea.

Should of did your research before buying a DE fixture if your on a budget. Only ballast that will work the way these bulbs are meant to be ran is a Gavita Remote Ballast. Hope your shop takes returns.

I forget where I read it, I think on the other forum, that the par readings were way down when using a phillips bulb with a solis tek ballast. I didnt know that about the ushio or digilux. Has me pretty interested

This Phantom ballast is specifically designed to run DE bulbs. Well at least that's what it claims.

I did my home work and found out that most ballast will strike the double ended. The problem is when you take readings the par is really low. I ended up going in with the power box ballast and the Phillips double ended after seeing the par output.

Im looking at using a power box ballast with a agroteck magnum hood, and ushio bulb. Have you seen how much difference there is in ushio and Phillips bulbs? And I take it by your post that the powerbox ballast will perform as good as the gravitas?

To date the phillips bulbs showed the best numbers. Yes their ballast power the DE bulbs to spec.

Yup.. Gravitas frequency is specific to Phillips bulb.

New DE fixture coming soon that's been dialed with a NEW DE bulb. Shaped like the gavita but with more features AND they're much cheaper. I'll keep you guys posted...

Are you talking about the new E-series?Just to be clear also i love solis teks ballasts just not for the philips bulbs.

As soon as I get the new equipment set up with the power box ballast and the phillips bulbs I will let you know.

Im finding some info that gavita runs there bulbs at 400v and a specific frequency. does powerbox and ushio match this are run different. Don't want to put my money in the wrong set up, if gavita does it better.

Yes they do. Look on YouTube some1 did a test with the power box ballast
