So get this…I ended up moving it up as far as it would go, and increasing the intensity to 75% ish and was reading like 800-1000 PPFD….which is absolutely insane considering the manufacturer says 24” at 100% for flower lol. I compared readings from a couple old lights that I’m certain of the output and actually had a friend bring his PAR meter over just to make sure this app is close. To my flippin surprise, the app is pretty close!! So that means that this SP3000 has some SERIOUS horsepower in a 2x4 tent and I’m thinking about just putting 2 in the 4x4 because the PPFD is just off the charts AND it’s the most evenly spread I’ve ever had!! Crazy!!!

Who knew?! A light designed for greenhouses (which often times uses CO2) in a small tent would be so powerful!

🤦

This is why PPFD charts are made available from grow light websites.

Dr. MJ Coco did a video a few years ago on using a pair of SP3Ks in a 4x4. At the time, it was the best light distribution he'd tested for that space.

Listen man…
Mars Hydro also says to hang the light at 24” at 75 to 100% power during flower without co2 and 22” with co2. And yes…greenhouses use them as supplemental light because they’re thin and allow for sunlight…but even their own PAR map isn’t accurate.

My light…Mars Hydro SP3000…at 24” above the canopy…is at like 800ppfd at 25% power….

I’m using Photone with an iPhone 11 and a paper diffuser….

This is just ridiculous lol.

Anyone know WHY this is happening? Is it accurate, and I’m just stupid? If I actually put it up to 75% it says like 1400!

Uhhhg.
