I’ve just recently started blasting and haven’t been able to get a batch of shatter that doesn’t taste like minty, toothpaste, chemicals. It burns the nose and throat it must still have butane in it but I’ve had it in the vac for 4 days at 95 to 110 f
At 29.5 hg flipping the paddy every couple of hours and I’m still getting acton. Just wondering is someone might have a possible solution

Never used a vac...I just blast off into Pyrex then into double boiler.and that depends on the consistency I want..it taste like the keff from the weed always...it's probably the weed your using.have you tried different strains, different growers...

Seems like you have your tech down, I don't flip every few hours though, usually every other day, and I like 90f for 5 days.

Flavor will depend on the terp profiles that your strains produce. Method of extraction and temps will also influence overall final product.

As long as you have good color, and your end product has a "swiss cheese" appearance , you're probably doing a good job.

... Not a fan of A.I. ovens either, Yamato for the win, those will hold at 29.5 hg forever it seems.

@ BMG how long do you leave vac running? Just long nuff to reach vacuum, and then let sit on heat? Thanks for prior post happy for any feedback

I run my vac until I reach 29.5 hg, but typically for 30 mins.

My Yamato ovens can hold steady at 29.5hg for weeks, if not months at a time, haven't tested that far out though.

My A.I. oven is a different, I typically will start falling off from 29.5hg after about 24 hrs of holding a vac.

In my years of working with concentrates I can confirm that a steady does of 29.5hg is key or 74 hg/cm in regards to my Yamato ovens.

If your oven isn't holding steady for extended periods you'll be spending quite a bit more time running your pump.

Can't really help in regards to flavor, as you usually get what your flower gives you. Only other thing I can think of if you are utilizing an "oil pump" is to never turn the thing off while your chamber is open to vacuum, good way to pull pump oil into your chamber.

What butane are you using, and what's your blasting process? Usually the taste of the extract is directly related to the starting material used though. Did you smoke the stuff you used to make it or just blast it?
