The key is to find a male that is unique in some quality or a all around stellar male plant. So your gonna have to be prepared to grow some male plant's for pollen or keep them in flower for about 2 weeks. The males I have been working with usually drop pollen between day 16 and 21. So I keep them in flower for 2 weeks then either add to my male box in a separate area as whole plants or just cut limbs in a container of water. I add something to catch the pollen , scape it up , collect or pollinate right away. I get a qtip and dab pollen onto a limb or two around day 21/28 most seeds form in 4' weeks . I remove the plant first , then pollinate and label and in like 30 mins after the deed is done I spray it down with water or a foliar and in a hour put here back.
For entire plants I add the plant to a tub and a fan then just dust the entire plants with pollen
You are looking to combined traits from the parents to make the desired off spring ie my alien OG cush #10 dad has a strong odor , good branching and a tell tale leaf pattern it to this point has speeded up flower time and added a sour kush stench to its kids.
There is a book that is like mandatory reading for anyone interested in breeding / pollen chucking
Its marijuana botany by Robert c Clark
