Oh and another secret to big yields is to wait till after week 3 and every day pluck a few leaves from each plant that are covering bud sites. Not to many u dont wanna shock it. Do this a few times for the next couple weeks and u wont believe the bump in yield u get. Once your plants get late into flower they dont need all them leaves that do nothing but block light from really penetrateing. Very little larf this way and u dont have to lolipop so much u will get way more bud. Try it and thank me later

I think LED is just a learning curve...once you get it dialed in they kill it....if you are running the right setup......

Hell yea. Absolutely the truth. So many people use led one time and decide its junk just because they feel they should have got more. If they would just keep working with it and dial it in leds can kiil it for sure. My spectrum king s speak for themselves.led is a totally different animal than an hps. Once i realized the proper way to use the leds and tweek my feeding a lil bit i started killin it. Frost for days

yes ia gree about dial in

but i was with 18" and it wasn't the problem..the penetration was good way down

it just did not make fat enough buds..uncharacteristically unfat

also i had 10X more resin than your plants

but yours looked like..they were 8 weeks of 12/12 under an hps..you did have decent resin

production though..just an unrealitic colas size at 4ks

unfact i have never seen anything that dense at 4wks....flowering..

but i have only been doing hid and hydro since 1979

of course i will try it again in flower..i spent giant dough on the unit

i am fully willing to admit i don't know how to grow if i hadn't done single plants that yielded a kilo before

well that "sounds" all very well and good..but its just talk at this point..

it is not JUST a learning curve..one needs the correct unit..

the right setup...yes a good led unit that will flower compared to hps..and the spectrumking at least this run for me is NOT

i have been using leds for a few years testing different ones

so far not great..i am still keen..but i am going 3590's

SK and 3590's are very similar and will do the same thing......what I mean by dial in....feeding schedules need to be changed because of the high photons....an hps at best only runs to 40% where as the high end LED's ie SK, 3590 cob, there are a few companys that build COB lights that are badass, run up to 60% effecient which is way more photons per watt of energy consumption.....dial in per light recipe....I have seen to many people killin it with dense nugs.....usually not huge colas but dense all the way down from what I have witnesed.....@km1 i sense your passive agressive tone.....noone is questioning your grow experience or grow quality......
the more photons your plant recieves ....your nutrients have to compensate for higher nutrient conversion.....and from what I have seen you have to run ambient at a higher temp say 80-85.....just my limited knowledge

Top bin high efficiency production COB panels are awesome in commercial settings and are currently the the top end in actual performance(high quality flower biomass yields). A few soon to be on the same fully commercial certification level(ul/etl/ip65+) as the previously mentioned top brands. But didn't want to really mention them until no questions asked they can go anywhere. But if we are talking about truly the best in, they need to be mentioned. They are just simply photon animals, with a conveniently ideal spectrum. Their price is less for better lights than anything offered in top caliber lights. Of course hps is till the lowest startup, but higher efficiency allows less wattage to create the same amount of light and lower heat(substantial in a commercial setting) and savings to accrue while not sacrificing yield/total crop value.

Before SK's mkr upgrade they were using second bin xbd's. Owner showed the invoice for the chips. So I can only believe they are using second bin mkr's now too unless shown otherwise.
But let's assume the are using top bin mkr 4k's..."H4".
Go the to cree's PCT and compare across the board any cree chips you want
http://pct.cree.com/dt/index.html

SK uses hlg240-36's and runs 8 parallel strings per driver at ~850ma/string a
SK with H4's at that current will hit ~125lm/w.
While the top bin cobs(3070 and 3590) are doing ~160-172lm/w at the base value level 1400ma.
Similar QER(quantum efficiency rating) including sk's monos making lumens comparisons fair.
Long story short...about 25-35% improvement over the SK...for half the cost per watt at the retail level, then being able to DIY for less is where the argument against SK comes from. And like I mentioned, it's unsure about what bins sk uses and could be an even bigger difference.

And at the end of the day for the average joe...they can DIY a light and save even more and get even better performance per their dollar.

SK is good and they work, but there is better and cheaper led's plus hps is still a ahead of SK.

But i added up the cost to put together a 4×4 cob setup everything i would need would cost over 1000. Where is the savings? I dont care what u say about the sk and i have a light meter. It it brighter than a gavita.

I sourced my parts from a grow mous5 video. Where he showed screen shots of prices on various websites. Im talkin cree cxb 3590 and meanwell 240 c700b. They are not cheap. Plus if i built my own i would throw some extra 660s 740s and a few uv diodes
