Not in my experience. Now, my son has used a technique for controlling mites indoors that I call..
Green Bamboo
Blowing Fan
Basically what he does is this--stick a piece of green bamboo stake into the pot, making sure it's touching the plant at a couple of places. Then, he directs a fan onto the plant, HARD. The mites migrate from the plant (unsteady) onto the bamboo (steady), where he wipes them off with a cloth soaked in whatever pesticide the hydro shop guys have gotten him to buy the last time.
What I take away from his experience is that the mites prefer steadier plants.
Observations around my home tell me that they're thickest in the thicker stands of toyon and not so visible on the edges, so maybe there's something to the method. But a cure for mites? Uh uh.
