Started On Wrong Light Cycle, Wat Do?

I am totally new to this, starting with hydro dwc, setup the lights and the timer to 12/12 and this has been the timer setting from the start, being new I took my friends advice, which was to let the plant grow about half the size of my tent then change the light cycle. So as I have just learned the starting cycle should have been 18/6 or 16/8 or something. I guess my question is how to I tell the plant to enter the next cycle now that it is already at 12/12?

the plant will change automatically. If you need to veg it longer with 18/6 or 20/4 (standard veg times), you could. Also if the plant becomes to tall you should look into topping/fim/supercropping it to maintain a nice canopy. Key is canopy management, always make sure leaves are getting light.

Remove bottom 1/3 leaves after 2-3 weeks in 12/12 unless you are using a double ended light.
