Sticky and wet or solid dry rock?

After read a lot of post i still asking myself this question everytime i cut, and i grow very sticky genetics.. But for some reason, and tried many dry techniques, 7 days to 20 days or the last that plant needs to get rid of that harsh green humidity.. But for some reason never got that sticky that see 8 or 9 yrs ago in some genetics.. I have one friend that jar after only 5 days of dry and its sticky after all but it develops that grass/hay horrible taste that never would go if you do bad.. so whats the point? i miss those sticky dense nugs that keep in your fingers after trimming.. I mean maybe the good way is the solid rock with low humidity and not so sticky and we are wrong? Maybe breeder was a genius or maybe put in jar too early and have lucky because the wet material is a very clear cultivar? What do you think guys?
How do you prefeer the bud? Sticky and little wet/dense smoke of those that go out quickly, or a hard solid cured nug, that maybe touching isnt sticky but is dense like a rock/dense smoke but the joint keeps burning? Cant forgot 9 yrs ago, i was a begginer with no plants, and get 5 grams from a friend/breeder.. i remember those sticky nugs that you cant even roll the joint properly due to stickiness in your fingers breaking the paper..
Any tips, personal techniques?
What i noticed too, is that some genetics develops stronger terps/smells/and resin 10/7 days before the cut-off information provided by the seedbank, i think myself this can be possible? Cutting too early getting better terpenes and more resin production?
Ill do 2, mb 3 cultivars per year, developing always the solid nug.. drying not too much, but what is necessary to not get that grassy/hay smell that doesnt goes away even if you open the jar, one time that you trim it and jar its like theres no going back on terp smell, not risking, so as not to ruin the progress of 3 or 4 months.. Obtaining good solid rock nugs, but not that stickiness.

I am smoking my one and only grow right now but have more in the tent. I did a standard 8 day at 62% and let the temp get as low as it could, about 60 degrees.
From there into jars with sensors. Only 2 jars of trim was at 62% right off the rest took twice daily burps and anywhere from 4 to 15 days before they hit 62% then added terp packs.
I grew white widow photo and out of just under 1100 wet trim I got just under 200 grams. The buds are light and airy but sticky and smell of lemon and pepper but neither smell converted into taste. It is a cooler smoke from the sticky and when the hairs catch they sizzle. Dispensary pot is stronger but makes me hack and the widow does not.
For joints to work and I do big fatties I found that adding a small amount of pot I ground in a coffee grinder prepping for special brownies is the answer. It clings to the sticky and buffers it against the paper so it burns ok. Otherwise yaa that's hard to keep lit and runs a lot up the side.

I hang my entire plant with as much foliage as possible. I keep the humidity at 60% and the temp as low as possible usually in the 70s. Leave it hanging for at least 14 days.

If you want sticky then you need to stress your plants out more so they release more resin.. there are all different kinds of tricks.. when you get chopping some water with ice cold water, or let sit in the dark for 48 hours.. this place is full of info as well as YouTube… drying and curing your bud can make it or break it.. this plant here was so sticky i could have rolled a joint with one hand

A larger portion of today's plants have a higher % of their total resin content THC.

A kosher kush at like 18% thc with a near 30% resin content will be quite a bit stick ickier than a ghost train haze at 27% thc with a 30% totl resin content.

The thc doesnt really go sticky until it decarbs, its more crystaline as thc-a.

Some of my peaceblasters (a columbian lineage) are waaaaaay sticker then plants that are probably close to double the thc content. Plants like this hit so fard because all those extra resins tend to bring along with them an entorage effects, and the ability to burn the flower at a lower temperature.

I came across lots of potent sativas today that are definitely stronger then my peaceblaster phenotypes, but pale in comparison by resin content.

My favorite plants always sit around what i would guess to be a 20% thc content or so, but they are veru sticky. When dry you can squeeze a bud and feel the resin within it, put it by your ear and you can hear trichomes catching and snapping like velco.

I toss lots of modern sativa phenos like olf napkins because their thc content is way too hgih a % of their overall resin contnet. I also tend to (personally, everyones different) notice a considerable amount moretension/anxiety in the drier modern high THC plants.

having a truly high resin content can indeed be effected by stress, but you do not *need* to be stressing your plants out for that.

Frosty does not mean high resin content. It actually doesnt mean high THC content either. They are correlated a bit, but its faaaar from a 1:1 kinda deal. You can have a plant that dosnt appear to be as frosty as another, but hits twice as hard, bblasts twice as much wax, and *tests a few % lower THC too* Everything from stress while alive, the energy content of the spectrum, the temperature the bud wants to burn at cured, to the terpine profile, to the cannabinoid profile, as well as the texture and consistency of the fats and tannins affects perceived potency when smoked. Some of these things even more then shear thc content or how frosty it appears. (Most more then how frosty it appears lol)

Its rooted in breeders and growers having access to easy THC and terpene testing and hunting and selecting based on test reports (objectifiable definitions and numbers), rather then how much they enjoy smoking the weed. This is also the root of why all the commercial wearhouse strains are blending into each other and becoming so same same same over the last decade or two.

i havent had real bubba or kosher kush labeled "bubba" from a dispo in years. I always buy it when im in there to see, and sometimes it tastes like bubba. But its not bubba anymore. I had some legit as fuck kosher from a dispo in denver called "Yuma" like half a decade ago. Last time i had a legit bubba that didnt come out of my biggs f2. It was on sale dirt cheap too, no one was buying it because it was only 18% thc... i cleaned em out. your average consumer, and average stoner are idiots imho lol.. they had 28% thc snowberry, and it was quite literally dirt by comparison. Was 10 more an 8th too. Smelled real nice. Was super frosty. Dry as fuck though. all the resin content was thc-a and volatile terps. Was a specific experience that will probably stand out in memory forever. ((although sometimes i stand in "ghost train haze" when i tell this story, because the KK was so much better i dont actually remember which the other was.))

I am a connoisseur of sativas calling that 18% thc KKush incomparably better then that whatever it was high test sativa atm too...

I havent had true pine in like 15 years now either, and neither have most of you, some may not even be old enough to remember thouse flowers being common..... All i can find today is just "piney" at best.

Great info how it was told to me was when u stress your plant it will release more resin and what that resin does is supposed to protect the plant… I’d like to experiment with more sativas but I tried one kind and gave me a headache but I want to try it again.. my next and 3rd ever run coming up and I have some super Lemon haze and pink mist I’m going to try out

that is very true. if i came across as disagreeing i apologize, i tend to ramble in circles In general yea, a stress response will heighten resin content and make plants more perceivably potent, Some more then others, but if youre not satisfied with a solid run with the plants you have though, i would just recommend trying different lineages before going the abuse to spike potency route, because in most cases youre trading a bit of end yield for that raised resin content anyway.

i can also be quoted in saying "stressed plants make more potent weed, but happy plants make happier weed" a time or twice as well lol. I mean more then one thing by that statement too.

im a sativa guy through and through, i wasnt growing up, but as soon as i got ahold of some true great sativas i inadvertently jumped ship overnight. but dont get me wrong, some of my favorite plants are still in the afghan/kush lineages. I associated sativa with either "i dont feel high, or im anxious and tense". Flash forward to now though, and imho, the best anxiety and mood lifting plants out there are sativas, you just gotta find em. Honestly, my most potent clone rn is a sativa dom, my stoniest is a sativa dom, my clearest minded is a sativa dom, my highest yielding is a sativa dom, and so is my fastest flowering lol. Even my most anxiety free plant is a sativa. My best tasting, my best smelling, list goes on lol

shit i typed an answer last night and didnt post it my bad.

I would definitely direct your attention in the direction of hazes in the true thai lineages if youre more of a cerebral/racey sativa fan. The closer you get to the thais the better really. I would def direct your attention to sativas of recent columbian lineage if youre more the "sit, giggle, n watch youtube" with your friends kind of sativa fan. And youd probably like hybrid more then straight columbian sativa, most do.

i fall into the latter and have just been messing with my own columbian lineage plants for several years now. i like sativas of that skunky, earthy, raunchy side, with a bit of stoniness to em. But my preference for them over the upbeat bubbly and stimulating hazes is just that, preference.

General though, the closer i get backwards down the lines toward true thai and columbian, the more i like the sativas, and the less edgy and mind-fucky they feel to me as well, and the more i enjoy the extracts/concentrates as well. They dont wallop you right in the face the second you hit them like a lot of todays concentrates, and they wont taste like candy and fruit gummies, but they dont need to either imho.

Tried this, and had to leave a little bit more, with hum at 50, but theres not too much air cause fan is broken and theres no airflow in the house.. So that could be affecting the terps and taste, and everything.. What if we low more temp? like 60-65?

Thats look good buddy, tried this too, but ice doesnt work, 48 hours mb im a little bit sceptic but it works a bit i think.. What makes goods results that works a couple of times too me is that made micro LST on flowering, and they got more production, even if you cut, smaller ones start to mature and get bigger and better.. But idk if better sticky, all product can be affected by dry process thats the problem or maybe like theguyone said its the genetic and THC/resin percentage.

Whats your opionion guys on put in last flowering stage lets said 30-35 days a low temperature exposure, like 50-60 degrees? Doesnt matter if production is affected, buy it would affect resin production?
Or maybe some breeders says that 11/13 affects too on resin and maturing before "bank time" estimated
All quote.. i used to be fan of sativas but now i cant grow, and people doesnt grow anymore cause isnt reliable for patience and production, even autos are the new fashion.. So lets say that less Thc, are a little bit stickier? Maybe a strong mineral fertilizer and a good hand could make a perfect solid sticky weed th? That could explain why years later there was more sticky and tastier things than nowadays looking for more % of THC and production than terpenes, efect/high and medicinal properties, for not mentioning that a lot triggers a weird effect, like you took 4 espresso paranoia be like high.
I tasted, not my cultivar, from earth one organic Panama Red that was like meaty rot funky smell, weird but psychedelic.. remember a couple haze 12 yrs ago too, like SSH and SLH.. Remember that ones make you smile a lot more, giggle and very intense colorfoull experience, maybe you cant stop laugh.

There really isn't any mystery to this other than the given cut (not genotype even, only chemotype but even then only as an over-generalization for non-end-user purposes). The stickiness is going to nominally involve the trichomes and their 'wetness' , but the majority of this effect in dried/'cured flower is not due to wetness; rather, this effect is mostly originating from trichome contents. Think things like some L terps can be a real pain for bubble because your water quickly becomes a real solvent. Various esters which are going to essentially make neighbor cannabinoids soluble and dissolve them when trichomes are broken up.
