Hey,

I'm new to the forums, was recommend to check this site out from a few friends who found this place useful. I live in a state where I can legally grow my own, so I'm not really concerned about security. In general, my place is very well guarded. I've grown a few times in the past, however I never really produced much as I always had flower readily available and didn't pay much attention to the plants. It was treated more like a house plant in my smoking rooms. Something cool to look at when your smoking with friends.

Long story short, since my state is legal for recreational a lot of street level dealers are leaving the game, myself included. No point in trying to compete in a market that will be controlled by the casinos in my state.

My end goal is to continue to smoke as much as I'd like without having to buy my flowers. I have a real job, don't need to hustle trees. It was a cool side hustle though.

I've invested in a 3x3x7 tent, 600 watt LED full spectrum light, 6 5gal fabric grow bags, perlite, bag of sunshine #4 soil, general hydropnic nutrients, ph tester & 15,000 btu (if you haven't figured it out yet, I live in the desert). I have my set up in my garage, it's not too hot right now but it will be reaching 100 plus degrees soon. I should be able to keep the grow space at 75-80 degrees even with the heat. How ever I have questions regarding how much water is needed for the plants at each stage of growing. I have a 5 gallon water jug that I get filled up with distilled water. I'll measure the water out into gallons and add the nutrients accord the the labels on the bottles. However, how much do I hand water the plant? Lately, I'll water the plant until I see water coming out the bottom of the grow bags. Then I won't water them again for another 2-4 days, depending on the dampness. They're currently still vegging, I'm assuming they use more water during flower. Any watering tips for growing in soil will be greatly appreciated.

Also, I mentioned I'm new to the site. This topic may have been discussed before, does anyone know how to search the forums on this site? P.s, I'm using a iPhone. I don't have a computer.

Thanks for the help...

Look in the far upper left hand corner of your screen... you’ll see a hamburger menu (3 lines). Click on that and it’ll open a menu, where you’ll find the search option at the very bottom of said menu.

Good luck.

Welcome to the site I also am a new grower. I reside in a recreational state as well. I have grown once before but was one of them people who thought you could grow without putting some money into it. Wich you can but I didn't find it worth it. So this time I've invested and am so excited to be growing again.
I'll be watching and fallowing if I can provide any additional information I will. I also have a few grows going feel free to add input on mine.

I grow here in oz and have dealt with temps above 42* regularly. I use coco coir for its water retention properties. One method is to keep the pot in a tray with some water....another is to use a cheap moisture meter.

here is the most basic type.

here's another 3 in 1 type.

One thing you might consider is looking into blumat drippers as they will release water/nutes as the medium dries out.

In high temp conditions I found DWC works really well, just keep the res topped up as needed.

I am in the desert as well (N Nevada and legal)..I use a Swamp cooler in the summer and I have a central A/C unit as well..The AC never gets the house below 75D F and with the LED lights (505 true watts in a 3x3) in the tent, temps were approaching 90!..The evaporative cooler (NO GOOD in high Humidity areas) would drop it by about 10 d in the room where the tent is located..I also crank up the Exhaust fan to about 400CF per min in a 3x3x6.
I grow in soil and use Silica always..it helps the plants withstand higher temps and other goodies too..Not sure about adding it to DWC though.

Been looking into another small tent for breeding, but am concerned again about temps.

Mine are all doing well (lights out now) and the CS plants both have a bunch of balls..LOL
The true male Cackleberry plant, true to form is huge with balls all over the place,,Now to figure out when they will start to open (separate tent)

Now is the time to pop seeds and get them healthy for OD season. Most legal states can follow my middle finger rule and go outside April 15, but use a 35G cloth pot minimum because you will grow a tree! I have found that that I can grow 2x the plant in 1/2 the media on cloth pots with good air circulation (9’ easy, topped twice) 45n122w
