it all started with sam the skunkman and the govnts destroying landrace/heirloom fields in the 1980’s but not before getting the dna structure first than burning down the field and replacing it with sam’s crap genetics,.
the other “faces” of marijuana are just as guilty and helped in destroying genetics,..
Puts a new flavor in the mouth to smoke skunked genetics.

never trust the government but I'm gonna start a small two plant grow here in Alabama and hope for the best

This is why I'm buying and hoarding as many seeds as possible !!!! Just gonna grow some males and keep the seeds coming as soon as I can get out of of this god awful state of Alabama !!!

Ok, I've read enough.

Being an old man, I find this entire seed and hemp "ban" strikingly similar to the 1990s AWB (assault weapons ban).

For those of you too young to know, in around 1994, George (HW) Bush decided that America's violence problem was a result of "assault weapons," and not a mental health crisis. The govt drafted an "extensive" ban of all AR-15, MAC 10, TEC 9, AK-47, and other military type semi-automatic firearms.

The argument was, take away the guns, and the violence would go away.

As one might expect, the 'MERICA! crowd panicked, and snatched-up any available weapons, like uppity housewives panicking before a snowstorm and buying more bread and milk than they'd need for months.

Ammo, guns, magazines, etc. absolutely FLEW off shelves. A $600 rifle was suddenly $1200. A $100 box of bullets was $350. A $5 "banana clip" (magazine) was suddenly $50.
Within a few months of the law rolling out, manufacturers had figured out ways to circumvent the law, and continued importing AKs, and continued making AR-15s/etc. (re-named "sporter rifles").

It was my first insight as to how incredibly well corporate attorneys can manipulate the wording of written laws to completely bypass the laws' intents.

Not sure if anyone noticed, but violence is still alive and well, and today, you can get a fuckin AR-15 for less than some 10-packs of top-tier genetics. It's ridiculous. But every 10 or so years since the '90s, there was some panic that sent gun sales through the roof and spiked pricing.

Here we are in 2026, and guns are more widely available than good doctors. People are still ape shit crazy, and violence is still doing peachy.

My point is, y'all need to calm down and slow your roll. Pot seeds are literally free if you live in a legal state. They're still relatively cheap if you don't. And ultimately, THERE IS NO FUCKING WAY TO ENFORCE A LAW BASED ON WHAT PERCENTAGE OF THC A SEED'S OFFSPRING MIGHT PRODUCE, WITHOUT LITERALLY GROWING THE SEEDS TO MATURITY.

This law isn't about protecting kids or citizens. This law is about protecting the big corporations that are poised to take over the hemp/marijuana industry.

The current leadership has fleeced healthcare, petrolium, food, and imports. Our favorite medicine is next. Connect the dots; the ONLY way to fix the current issue(s) is to VOTE.

Well said.

Well said.
I agree but I do vote and get out voted by people that are totally oblivious !! I said it earlier in this thread I live in a state that is legal to grow but I'm working in a state that if you get caught with a hint of weed your going to jail
I just think that big pharm has a lot to do with this as well as the alcohol industry
Just my thought!!

Correct. Big pharm, big tobacco, and big investment groups. All (further) enriched by the big Cheeto.
I'm not going to let it scare me into thinking seeds are gonna be extinct, however. I've seen this pattern with governmental overreach before...and it typically backfires.

Lemme get this straight. The govt "destroyed marijuana fields," and replaced the plants with some from a 80s/90s breeder, eh?

You believe this? I think you left out the part where mantid aliens and shape shifing lizard people gave Sam his seeds...

Also, "GMO" marijuana is literally almost every strain out there. That's what breeders do...they combine the most desired traits of multiple specimens in hopes of creating stronger, higher yielding, more desirable specimens.
Crossing an Afghan and a Thai Sativa is literally Modifying Genetics.

Corn (like the corn we all eat) is not what corn grew like in the wild. The corn cob you're used to eating at a barbecue would look NOTHING like a corn cob, were it not for "GMO." Google it.

Not all "GMO" is bad.

As for "Sam the Skunkman," he's taken a lot of heat in recent times for "singlehandedly ruining weed."

I highly doubt some longhair is solely responsible for my difficulty in sourcing a true sativa Thai stick, or a FIRE sack of true skunk bud like we had back in 1990.

Multiple things happened to create the sugary, fi-fi strains that the skinny-jean-fidget-spinner crowds seem to love so much. (Not the least of which being how hard it was to conceal even a MODEST outdoor grow of true Skunk buds on a July morning back when dope was illegal...)

Don't get me wrong - big business is out to control our cannabis, but Sam was just an opportunistic breeder in a time when novel strains were, well, novel.

Edit to add: Just to get back on the topic of seed storage, I see seeds as old as 20+ years that stoners saved in freezers, packed with just a hint of potash in film cannisters popping after 48 hrs in a mild peroxide and distilled water solution. They literally just tossed them in freezers, so that's what I have done for the past 20 yrs.

you believe whatever you want to believe,. it’s quite obvious to most of us,..

I believe the govt imported cocaine they traded for arms/hostages. (And used the money from the coke for more arms.)

I believe certain genetics were bred-out.

Do I believe the govt would bother PLANTING more dope to replace the land races? Nope.

I believe most growers prefer 7-8 weeks of flowering vs 12-18 weeks. Most large scale growers do so for profit, not to preserve land race genetics.

Where is actual, documented evidence that the govt had a part in re-seeding fields with "inferior weed?" What purpose did such actions serve?

Not a criticism. An honest question. Please provide empirical data/evidence to support this claim, so I can stop being so "naive."

There's a whole lot of "most people believe" shit in the cannabis world, supported by little to no facts.

Example(s) being:

1) You should flush with pure water for at least a week (now proven BS)

2) You should harvest in the dark (100% BS)

3) 48 hrs of darkness increases THC before harvest (more BS)

Etc...

Most of the BS in cannabis growing was spread loooong before we had the means to disprove it.

In the 1970s, there was a rumor that the US govt "radiated all the illegal pot imported" so seeds couldn't be grown. Why not just destroy all the weed, rather than allowing it in?

My mom grew plenty of "nuked" 1970s seeds when she lived in WA. All of them grew nice, healthy plants...

Ok I saw on the web that there is a new bill in congress to legalize weed and tax it has anybody heard anything about this ? I only caught the end of it

start with this, pay attention,. and yes joe can be bit extreme and the interview can wonder a bit but the facts are the truths,.
i think what else the government or whoever did was remove or destroy as many strains as possible and or breed out THCP,.as it’s literally impossible to find in its original state it’s all lab created junk now,.
its 33 times stronger than thc when reacting with the brain receptors this is why we got higher back in the day at least before the 1990’s,.

Hello all it's been a while but I'm still buying and hoarding seeds I just found this and it's been working like a charm for storing seeds in the fridge just FYI IF anyone is interested

I Vacum sealed the seeds the way they came in the mail with a small descent pack and put it in the jar with another descent pack and a Govee temp and humidity sensor and it's steady at 42 degrees and 14% humidity and the jar is reading slightly different at 12% humidity
