I guess organics would be good for a hand-waterer like me? I've been living the idea of it but it sounds so damn complicated, compared to how easy a dwc was for me. Let's get this done, every Monday I will buy an ingredient to build an organic soil that I will not have anymore problems in. @BlackSheepOG @rmoltis are you guys using a pretty easy recipe? I mean, soil is supposed to be easy, compared to hempy-buckets. But I have to have an opposite mind-fuck and have no problems in a single dwc bucket, and lock up or burn out plants in soil containers...
But back to the organic recipe? I'm gonna need roughly 30 gallons of soil to keep 18 plants in flower, and all my clones in cups.

What and how much do I need as a base?

I started a compost pile but it is infested with bugs. I put some worms in there, and found some, what looked like, little tiny red worms, but they are little red larvae or maggot of some sort, so I don't think I will be using it anytime soon. And I mean infested...

I don't have a custom soil recipe.
I use roots organic 707, last round I used their organic potting soil. Both good so far. I've noticed the 707 is a little hotter but works great.

I also use earth juice organic bottled nutrients+microbes. I aerate the nutrients to raise ph as well as getting the added microbes to populate the feed.

The whole process is very simple.
It's basically a matter of mixing nutrients, letting sit in a jug aerating for days (depending on amount). Then watering/feeding the plants when they dry out every 2-3days. It's so simple it's crazy.

I just use
Fox Farm Ocean Forest soil
Earth worm castings
Perlite.
I'm just now finishing up my nutes
Go-Box General Organics..
But they were bought out by Monasato so I can not use anymore..
So I'm going to use Organix line by @Ecompost ...
As soon as I'm done upgrading my room ,my feeds will be upgraded.
If you need any help with organics ,holla at this guy..^^^^^^

Could go soiless organic, it's easy to get started and can grow some big plants in little pots.

1 Bale coco or peat doesn't matter
1 bag of dolomite lime
1 bag ewc/compost
1 bag perlite/rice hulls/vermiculite

5 parts peat,3 parts perlite, 2 parts ewc, then you add appx 1 cup like per cubic ft. There is your base and then you can feed with whatever you want. You can grab a bag of epsoma tomatoe tone or any kind of organic food and feed. No PHing needed, just put the plants in, sprinkle some feed on top and water and watch them grow :)

Look up LC's soiless mix.

So.... the wife has to have surgery.. we had another miscarriage... the surgery is to take it out and try and repair what they think is causing the miscarriage. If things go bad it could mean they have to take out everything (hysterectomy).

My heart hurts, my brain is depressed, I'm out of homegrown, and I don't want to work.

Life feels terrible.. but I know deep down it could be worse.

On the other hand I think my soil's ph is finally coming up. I should know by next week if it is up to a satisfactory level. I will be able to tell in my weekly perpetual grow.

there are lots of things that are normal in compost mate, check out Cornells resources on composting and dont worry too much. You might try adding fungus like Stropharia to your compost piles, these not only taste great, but they trap root knot nematodes, or Beauveria Bassiana is a wide ranging entomopathogenic fungi that controls many grubs and common leaf pests also, Of course beneficial nematodes will also help rid you of ants and other bugs, but the biggest thing is to compost properly to begin with, limit the inputs so you know you are aiming at the 24:1 C/N ratio ideal for short day crops like MJ and turn it etc, make sure its the right moisture and O2/ CO2 level before you use it, preferably get it under a microscope and know the biology is right. if not get it tested for biology not NPK.
There are lots of plants you can companion too mate to help reduce pests and problems, help fix nutrients and more. Organics isnt complex mate, not for humans, the hardest thing is not interfering with the system once its running right. Lots of people spending money want interactions, this isnt best, we need to get the nature right then let it be and we will see the results are better with far less effort. I promise there really is no benefit to growing in anything other than soil, unless you want unsustainable and or lots more work.
No media can out perform well balanced soil, I dont care what the hydro and coco guys say and they will always say something. Its the nature of humans to deny what they see with their own eyes in favor a marketing dream. Go stand in a redwood forest and tell me soil lacks anything, then go home and grow a redwood in coco??

Good luck mate we are here to help you always
