Do you think adding beneficial bacteria and fungi would drastically change my soil for the better? Does beneficial bacteria help balance ph at all? I know it breaks down large nutrients into easy nutrients for the plants..

Yes it will, a finely tuned functioning living soil (meaning the critters, exudates from the root zone and all of the predation) will self correct itself for Ph in the rhizosphere. The longer you keep adding organic inputs and the longer the system has to do its thing the better all parameters will get. My .2 cents based on my limited knowledge of how it works.

Yea you're just adding some new microbes so it'll give em more vigor dude.

I was thinking built up N as well. You could do a flush them run a good tea through the medium.

neglect!

Only 2 plants left in the tent til I clean it and start getting ready to start the flowering over!

Hey @jumpincactus I just figured something, I let my pots dry out very well, like bone dry, and I just read that if you let them dry out too much the salts (food) will crystallize and burn the shit out of my plants... do you think I'm letting them get too dry? I hand water them about every 3-5 days, depending on how fast they drink it, ans any more than that they become saturated and overwatered...
I'm having trouble in veg with everything being over watered, because of either a drinking issue or a compaction issue. The plants in the two liter bottles have good root systems all the way to the bottom, we're looking and feeling dried, but the upper most leaves read over watered.

Still just over here like:banghead:

To speak to your compaction issues, what type of media/soil are you using.? Do you have sufficient aeration? If your media is getting compacted I would add more perlite or something such as par boiled rice hulls or any other means to get better tilth in your media.

I generally go by days since last watering and the weight of the pots to determine when its time to water again. Do a regular watering or feed till you get 10-15% runoff then lift the pots to get a feel for the weight when fully watered. This helps. Also generally when I stick a ginger into my media/soil if its fairly dry a couple of inches down I know its time to water.

I'm not sure what you are speaking of with the salts crystallizing as if you are using synthetic nutes which are in essence salts but are alternating plain water waterings between feedings you shouldn't have an issue. I can say that yes over time you can get a build up of salts that will need to be flushed to eliminate buildup.

If you can post the link where you read this so I can check it out and get back with you.

The balance between over and under watering is tricky at first but over time you will come to learn how to achieve that balance. I hope this helped.

I have had to start recycling my happy frog... Do I have to replenish perlite in any soil? It does seem like there is less perlite overall.. and also I added some dolomite lime to it to get the ph up in the 6's, can that cause compaction issues?

I'm not very good at linking things but it was someone here at the farm..

Been using GH flora nutes, about out of it though, so probably gonna try and mix up and use some of this roots organic aurora and uprising.

I also recycle. I use the ROLS method. (recycled organic living soil) However, I also compost and am constantly adding fresh carbon and humus with my fresh compost between runs. I always have some cooking while I am doing a run. So that helps with compaction and soil tilth and I always have a stash of rice hulls to add as I see fit.

If not overdone, any powdered amendment if mixed thoroughly and evenly thru out you soil shouldnt cause compaction. But I cant really say as I'm not there with you to see how you go about things. Like I said I am always adding fresh mix to my ROLS so my soil doesnt seem to have compaction issues.

Hey, so my recycled soil did have remnants of roots left.. could my plants be suffering from the leftovers? To my knowledge I did a very good job separating the soil from the roots...

is this looking any better yet? Any greener?

Hey yall I'm keeping this on my thread. If you all know ANYONE in the legal business that can get me into Ohio's legal industry. I am in need of work. Has to be a job that doesn't leave it mathematically impossible to take care of my family. Obviously I love this industry, and I could prosper. I'm literally looking for anyone who has connections. My former employer thought it was OK to give the only guy who shows up on time, no raise, because I missed some days. My wife almost died. I only took off for the day of the surgery. The other days were either high load stress from the miscarraige or literally legitimately vomiting. I worked 6 days a week, when half the crew only worked 5.

Preferably I'd like to work under a master grower as like an apprenticeship to continue my work and one day accomplish owning my own professional farm with working employees.

Even a link will help. Thank you.

Alright my friends, I mix up some of that roots organics dry fertilizers into a single pot's worth of soil, and so far as her roots have been setting in already in the first week, she is significantly healthier than the rest of them.

I think I need to get away from the chemical bottled nutes in soil!!!! Well, feeling is a KNOW! Look at that, so much healthier!

Confused here, I trying to re-veg,
1476145672048 900014378
1476145756352 32931224
I'm transplanting her to the bigger pit tonight with the roots organics dry fertilizers, she's been on a solid 19/5 lights on/off schedule, now as of the past 3 days she is getting 24 hrs.

Do I need to pick the bud off of it? Am I missing something? I have no idea if she was an auto but when I grew her from seed I was able to top her and get some canopy action before I accidentally put her into flower. This was a clone that also was confused..
