My canna plants are doing fine in the desert heat, but my tomatoes were getting heat-stressed and one of my canna plants too. Looked into that shade cover, but it's like $50 for a 10x10 piece. I just got finished screening my patio porch. I noticed the difference in light inside and then out. It's just great. You can use the metal screen to cover your grow pen with this stuff. It cut the sunlight by 50%!! Couldn't believe it. The other shade stuff amounts to shredded plastic tarp and will be torn in 6 months. This will last years and is pretty cheap. Also, the wind gust we get here goes up to 60mph. The wind just goes right through the screen. That was just one layer of the screen too. I used the black screen. Don't know if the silver makes any difference. I covered the top of my 18x7 grows pen for maybe $15.

Yeah bro I built a screen tent like this and I noticed it helped with sun exposure as well...
