Take Part in Homegrown Cannabis Co's Grow Off Competition! (Free seeds, Free Joy...)

We hope everyone's having a fairly smooth start to the week. To celebrate the introduction of Grow Diaries on the site, we thought it might be fun to run a little competition, or a 'grow-off' for want of a better phrase...

Here's how it would work: anyone who wants to take part expresses their interest here (just reply, and tag us with 'I'm in!'). After a few weeks or so (to give everyone a chance to get involved) we will get in touch with everyone who replied via DM to arrange a free pack of seeds of your choice from the site.

We would then open a window (around 6-8 months) where everyone can go ahead, begin their Grow Diary here on the site, and post updates (weekly would be fine) of their plants until harvest. After this window, all completed grow journals will be rated, judged, celebrated, with the best 3 winners posted here on the forum (prizes TBC).

Rules
- US only
- One pack of seeds per person. By taking part you agree to run the seeds within a reasonable time frame, and post consistent updates on your Grow Diary.
- We may use some of your grow content for educational or marketing purposes, but always credit where credit's due!

How does that sound? We'd love to make this into a constantly evolving, educational, and ultimately helpful thread where even those who haven't grown before or struggle to find the resources to get seeds can take part.

We're all ears for any ideas / suggestions you may have! Otherwise, if you want to get involved then reply to the thread, tell us you're in, and let us know what your potential preference would be for a seed pack from our site here:

We'll definitely go ahead and run this!! Aware that some of you will want slightly different start (and thus end) dates depending on your current runs, setup, and life more generally. So I think the best way would to be have a germination 'window' of around 3-4 weeks which allows a little flexibility, whilst also making you're all 'growing' together and finishing up a similar (ish) time.

If anyone has any thoughts / suggestions there then we're all ears! If not, thinking we leave this open until the end of the month to allow anyone else to join in. After that, I'll start DMing everyone who had a reply and organizing getting the seeds out.

Thanks again for such a great response, and tag away / spread the word if you know anyone else that might be interested.

Cool, I have a 2×4 tent open now while I concentrate on my outdoor grow so the timing will work well for me. I don't do autos indoors anymore though, maybe categories for photos and autos?

Or do you want us to DM you now with what strain we'd like to grow? And thank you again for giving folks the opportunity to get some seeds going. Alot of us are growing outdoors right now and won't finish till mid October just FYI.

Need to confirm that, but ideally it'll be everyone's own preferences yes. Be nice to have a variety across the grow journals and discussion we think. We'll reach out via DM in due time after it closes up! Appreciate there'll be lots of you growing outdoors too so will bear that in mind🤝

I was saying dm would be best in case they wanted a different strain because they had so many. Not in case they changed their mind about participating tho they may idk everyone is different. I think from the way I was reading things they might want everyone to do the grow at the same time. I don't think it's a competition so I see why they offer to let us pick the strain.

Yeah I'd be reluctant to call it a competition! More of a grow off where everyone can have a bit of fun - not everything in this life has to be too competitive 😉

Totally get you @WinJr63 but would rather it lean more towards a shared experience as above! Happy to hear everyone's thoughts though... we could even let all you guys who join in anonymously vote and decide at the end, perhaps bearing in mind everyone's personal growing process and particular challenges etc etc etc... Just some thoughts!

Agreed about the variety. I've had your Blue Quartz on hold till winter growing and will happily grow a different strain with it. I'm looking forward to getting the Baked Apple strain to go with it.

I'd even be inclined to allow for autos and fems depending on people's individual preferences... some will be starting / finishing a little sooner than others and just want everyone to have fun 🌱

Are we all gonna have to grow them as soon as we get them? I'm trying to figure out a timeline to work
