It seems to me the strain used is a big factor in deciding temps. I would have to say 110f to 140f. Also the time you are going to leave under vacuum is important, less time in vacuum more heat or less heat more time in vacuum.

Ive never seen a vac oven. can you show us some pics of it in action? what temps to run it at also depends on the consistency you want. if its honeycomb or budder your after that will require higher temps usually around 140 below that you'll get a shatter or wax.

This pic is the first time I used it, its not mine but I have full access to it and have done a few more pulls with it now.I have to keep it real low, like 1.5 or lower. Shatter is my preferred outcome.

that's a cool setup. Ive found getting a very stable shatter is one of the hardest consistency to achieve. the temps will need to be just under were it wants to turn into a honeycomb. i find that most amber glass is still way under purged. if it instantly sticks to your fingers and is very stringy an hard to work with its not done. you should be able to grab a chunk of shatter and break it up with out it melting onto you fingers.

I agree, it's all about thin film purging. Not just the butane but also the moisture.

got mine on ebay...thats why i want a rotovape...helps to purge thinner layer...also keeps it moving...
which brings me to another thing...
i have been moving physically my chamber to allow the oil to run while purging...this seems to helo make it thinner thus helping bubbles form and pop easier ....
anyone else experience or mess with this....that vac oven is pretty awkward to tip but it does work and help i think...

the only problem w a roto is then you gotta get the oil out of the beaker, so u either gotta use a carrier solvent or a flask that has a break in it....or a flask that ha a huge opening, just not sure what biggest or biggest machine will hold is...

Thanks for sharing, I'm amazed at how precise the techniques are becoming to make concentrates. This is the kind of info that really moves things forward for us all. I'll be trolling ebay now. Like yourself I've been looking into rotovaps. Seems it would be the perfect solution but I have to agree with you on the getting the oil out. I'll be interested to see what you come up with in the future.

"soaking" through the parchment paper is an impossibilty...
there was either a hole or you somehow let oil slip between a crack or something or there was oil in the pan previously...
its designed specifically to have stuff not soak through it...
i do it every night, the only time i have an issue is if theres a rip i didnt see in the paper (does happen and will seem to leak through then u got a piece of paper with oil on top n bottom n a big fuckin mess....so you gotta be carefull)
but i assure you if you do this properly its the easiest way, maybe next to the bag tech...
you dont even really need teflon, i blasted right into a ziplock n it worked fine...
u wanna use a freezer bag at least tho...

pouring it tho does work, i did that a few times at first...then you are losing a lil when you pour tho...best is just line reseptacle w paper...heres a pic..
make sure ur not using wax paper use parchment paper..
see really simple
line dish then blast then you just pop it out n open it up..walla then stick in vac oven...done

That's a cool step spraying strait onto the parchment seems like it work perfect for that vac oven. I did that along time ago but thought it was to messy trying to get it scraped together at first. My question is do u vac purge your oil without heat the first couple times till it's a stabel muffin or do u add heat and just let it bubble?
I ask cuz I skipped this step earlier and it seemed to make my purging process take forever. My oil was just bubbling at 140 degrees for several hours without waxing up.

140 seems awful hot for vac purge. seems like people are trying to keep the temps as low as possible. just picked up some oil slick pads... will try them out later today
