So i just bought A used vacuum oven off Ebay. It dies not pull a full vacuum. I can hear the leak on one side of the rectangular door. How can i fix this?? I have seen vacuum seal spray for about $70. I'd buy it if i knew for sure it would work. Anybody have experience with this? Maybe just done electrical tape?

One thing is for sure it is not the rubber gasket because i flopped it around a couple times and the leak comes from the same spot. Thanks for your help anybody!!

but it works better on leaks that aren't opening and closing.

There is not much to the sealing arrangement. The air has to get around the door gasket somehow, and it may be hardened with age, so you might consider replacing it.

Got my oven vac and love it. Works great!!!!

Push on the door to help get it to seal. once the vacuume starts pulling it should hold.

What brand of oven are you guys using?

We picked up a used Napco, but had to extensively rebuild the controls to operate reliably at low temperature. We replaced the existing mechanical capillary tube controls with a Type K ring thermocouple and a Panasonic self learning temperature controller.

At 100F, it now holds exactly at set point, plus nothing minus nothing. It still won't do the same thing at 85F, so I will replace the lower heat strip with a smaller wattage unit to reduce hysteresis.

Hey gents. I just bought an oven from mti that is similar to the across international. This specific one http://mtixtl.com/Bench-TopVacuumOvenWith28SegmentsTemperatureController-EQ-DZF-6050series.aspx. It's working fine so far I am just having one problem with purging. I use an IR thermometer to measure my oil and it reads in the high 90s to 100 degree range. Problem is after numerous vacuum pulls I still notice the shiny swirls of oil on the surface of my slab.

I have a yellow jacket superevac 6cfm that gets down to 15 micron and a 8 cfm robinair that gets to 40. I've used both and am not satisfied with the results. If anyone knows some possible solutions/advice it is greatly needed. I've been racking my brain trying to figure things out and raising temps is the last thing I want to resort to I just don't know what else to try out. I have an analog thermometer that reads the oven temp. next to the sample and I keep it at 105 max if not lower. I've stalked Graywolf on several different forums and have read tons of posts about ovens, pumps, etc. I've got a bunch of cool tools, but they are of no use to me until I figure out how to use them.

I've tried purging in the pyrex by setting it in the oven and then scraping to finish on parchment. Most recently tried scraping directly onto parchment shortly after the pool of liquid tane evaporated and have run into the same issue of getting the surface molten enough for bubbles to rise out. I always spread my oil as thin as possible. No folding, just flipping.

u need to either kick up ur temp based on the strain, or thin it more....or purge it longer...or ur using material with neem oil or some other shit in it..try a teeny spritz of 99% iso in the initial purge pool... #topsecretpeckerwoodpimpshit

Does it have anything to do with my first vacuum pull? Should I be holding a muffin at room temp then slowly introduce heat instead of heating the oil warm first and then muffining? Thanks for the help syndicate! I'm just trying to make clean meds because all I can get in my area are waxes and most of them are dirty.

The problem with the Napco oven, was that the heating elements were both attached to the bottom of the oven can, so the bottom of the oven was always hotter than the top.

I moved one of the heating elements to the top and inserted a thermocouple in the center of the oven to read actual oven temperature.

I also moved the dish further from the bottom of the oven on a wire rack, to reduce hot spots.

140 seems awful hot for vac purge. seems like people are trying to keep the temps as low as possible. just picked up some oil slick pads... will try them out later today
Brother do not use slick pads it will cause your flavor to be not as good and if you over again too many times material from pad will start coming off in your oil. Parchment paper is much better and you can cut to fit the shelf size of your oven. When I switched to parchment paper I was to get at least one additional shelf in my oven.

I love my ovens from Best Value Vacs
