I read a very interesting article discussing the shortcomings of the current Indica-Sativa-Hybrid type of classification system for cannabis. It suggests that a Terpene-Based Classification system would more accurately reflect the characteristics of a strain. Being a big terpene advocate, this made sense to me. I had my wife read it. Her response? "You've been saying this for years." LOL Finally someone smarter than me could explain this concept. 😎

I'd love to read the article, but I don't want to download an app to do so.

Was recently just having this conversation. Majority of people are caught up on the % of THC that the terpenes are never even looked at or taken into consideration.
I'm not a smoker, but don't terpenes give the smoke it's flavor? In addition to the health effects?
(I'd love to read it too but I'm on a computer and am not going to download the app either.)

Just got 4 different strains from your state.

The strain I like the best has the lowest % of THC (If that info is truly accurate). I know it has more to do with thr terps. Feel like this is also why most of us that have smoked for a long time and remembers the good smoke from the 80s do not buy the argument that the smoke is better today. It isn't about THC % being sky high.

THC and CBD are transporters molecules for the most part, terpenes, flavanoids and much more similar compunds are the actual unique effect. Flavanoids are flavor btw.
THC testing is BS, the same plant can have 10% THC or CBD difference from cola to larf. Then you test 1 of 10,000 plants, all you know in that case is the percent of THC for the specific part of the specific nug it was tested from. So its complete nonsense in other words.
TRUST YOUR SMELL, that is the key when you select bud, your nose will remember the dank✌️

sooo true..
the whole industrialized marijuana world is a giant lie and all about money and control..
remember marinol? from the 80’s, a thc pill, a failure why because it made the majority of patients have all sorts of weird bad effects, they’re still making that shit today think it’s on its 4/5 name change but it continues to be a failure, anything lab created doesn’t even compare to the real thing but big pharma won’t stop and in the mean time the real marijuana that most farmers in marijuana growing countries is disappearing..
they thought natural thcp was gone forever (breed out) thcp is 33 times stronger than thc, so they have been creating in the lab and of course its junk, but apparently in a landrace somewhere they found it recently,..

My dad worked at Bristol Myers Squib and his job was to maintain the coolong systems keeping the exotic plants alive. That's where they get most everything, even the synthetic stuff is based on the chemistry of existing plant compounds

ok but not sure what your trying to say if it’s the same or not but anything lab created is not even close to the real thing.. fact.. i can try a find that science report?

I have to ask. Which strains, from where/who, and why? I'd love to buy local.

I'd be more than happy to purchase from a local grower, but I don't personally know anyone there. I've been to URB in Monroe. I used to go to Exclusive in Ann Arbor, but they've opened a location in Monroe. That's where I went last. Dude gave me 60% off my order too. My receipt said "We've missed you" after each discount. Not sure what that was about, but I wasn't complaining.

I got:
•GMO, 3rd favorite
•Donkey Butter, 2nd favorite
•Cherry AK-47, 4th favorite, but I do love the gun. Not going to lie, it's why I purchased this strain. 🥴
•Sour Diesel, which was my favorite and had the least amount of THC.

Oh, the why? No particular reason other than closer proximity to my house. 3 hour drive one way. I haven't even been to ours. Opened to the public last Tuesday, but until things are sorted out and prices drop, I won't walk in the doors.

Everything we have that's synthetic we have gotten the idea from plants, that being said changing a single molecule on a chain changes A LOT. As far as synthetic cannaboids, those are all bad though, fuck them. Just in general how people think big pharma come up with molecules on their own, they really don't they copy nature. Also saying it's mimicking nature does not mean safe or effective necessarily

IIRC the conversion of THC to THCP in the liver is why edibles are so much stronger than smoking or dabbing. Finding a way to preserve terps during extraction would be a game changer. There is a company in CA that has the most extensive and complete terp profile for countless strains. They pretty much have a monopoly on terp infusion for things like distillate cartridges. The extraction process can strip away the terps and they sell manufacturers terp profiles to reintroduce them to the concentrate. First botanical based and now also supposedly cannabis (hemp?) terps. While I will use carts if I can't find a medicinal strain in flower form, such as Moby Dick which works better than albuterol IME, but I prefer ethanol extraction. I want all of the cannabinoids, terpenes, flavinoids, vanilloids, waxes and oils, etc. This is why RSO works so well. Rick Simpson's story is pretty incredible and a recommended read. My wife has CKD ( Chronic Kidney Disease) and I have used predominantly diet to take her from stage 4 to normal kidney function in less than a year. By strategically using these same compounds found in foods (especially culinary herbs), her body is healing itself, in effect. Terps have played a big role in this endeavor. I'm known in dispensaries as "the terp hunter". While others only want the highest THC percentage, my first question is about terpene content. No one ever broke out their loupe to inspect trichomes when buying a bag. We stick our nose in it and inhale.

One thing I will add is that I don't believe that there is full agreement on the effects/uses of terpenes. I'm big on cross referencing and find that some info is more accurate based on my reading and own direct personal experience. Some is just plain wrong.

The article is pretty short. If it's cool with @GNick55, I could copy/paste here.

A lot of medicine in the western world is derived from plant medicine or material. (Maybe all over the world, but I can only speak on our medicine.) They cannot patent nature. Therefore, they steal from her, and call anyone that works with her medicine a witch, insane, tree hugger, etc. Most man-made medicine have horrific side effects. Nevermind, the prices.
