TGR’s High Elevation Grow Journey

The front medium is ProMix Organic and the rear is Mother Earth Groundswell. I’m a fan of both with the way they dry pretty evenly.

Well it was nice for a couple of days anyhow. Back to doom and gloom outside but that’s spring. It’s definitely arrived early this year by all of the bugs flying around recently. Guess that can only mean it’s time to dust off the old armor and get ready to battle thrips.

At least the rain brought a steady 55% rH which I’ll take.

Whipped up the next batch of Mega Crop ahead of this winter storm that starts to blow in this afternoon. 5 grams per gallon of Mega Crop and 2 grams CalMag.

Looking at 6-12” of snow around 3,000 feet so I try to minimize the amount of time the door to the shed has to open for heat retention. This stuff keeps really well in sealed containers.

Just don’t try to do that with recharge! 🤢

It’s just concentrated microbes, or something that comes to life when you add water! But when they starve and die, they smell pretty much like anything else that has died! As long as you feed them, everything is hunky-dory!
I’ll keep that in mind. I lost my smell the first time I got flu but I’ve been informed more than once that the Sweet Candy smells absolutely disgusting. On the half full side, shopping at Walmart has been much better. 😁

Bummer! That means you have to take regular showers! The older you get the more of a burden that will become!😁🐒 But wait! The youngsters have come up with a solution for that! Something called Mando!

Beat the snow for Round 1. Round 2 gets here in a few hours and doesn’t look as promising but Mother Nature is just as bipolar as California itself so who knows.

Bambinas are happy and continuing to grow.

Oh man the mountains are really getting hit with snow here again. The sierras look like they could use it. At Crater Lake NP it's about 70mi from me the Lodge is nearly covered to the first roof. Rodes won't open till June almost? It's just cold and rainy down below at 1000ft. Really great looking manifolds and yes i use those staples all the time and i also straighten them and make shepards hooks for plants too.

That’s good news for all of us in the lower Sierras. I can see Breckenridge Peak and the Greenhorns and they’ve barely had snow. They usually look like something out of National Geographic in the winter.

That’s a great idea bending those staples! Normally I wander around cussing up a storm until I find a wire coat hanger which does or does not work most of the time 🤣

I like to mix mine the night before and leave the cap cracked so any chlorine can evaporate. I feel like the Mega Crop mixes in better with an overnight waiting period but I’m weird. Don’t mind me.
I've been experimenting with using a fish tank aerator when I mix nutrients. I serendipitously discovered that it mixes the nutrients quite well, because it wasn't the original reason I tried using an aerator. Removing chlorine and aerating the water were my original intentions. So, I drop the air stone to the bottom of the watering can and let it run while I'm adding nutrients. I also fill my water cans a day or more before using them to warm the water to near soil temperature. I put the watering cans in the tents to keep them warm when there's room, but room temperature is better than tap water temperature, especially during the winter. Aeration also helps avoid drooping after adding water. Watering slowly does that, too.

I lost my smell the first time I got COVID
I lost my sense of smell years ago because of a motorcycle accident. There are advantages, as you say, but I do miss some aromas, like lilacs in bloom.

Sucks to have lost your sense of smell..... I know its happened to Me 3 times with having flu, Wuhan Flu.

I can't stand lilacs!!! But would miss the smell of food in general!!!

Does it affect your taste 100% too??
