The Bucket Company setup advice?

I'm close to pulling the trigger on a 6 bucket manifold set from the bucket company. This will be my first hydroponic setup and I'm having trouble figuring out the piping and reservoir. Will I need to plumb up check valves and motorized ball valves? or will their recommended submersible pump and a timer do?

No valves just they recommendation pumps or get your own
