I just got the Ghost and '91, tbh and don't get me wrong because they're both phenomenal, but it's kinda another case of the hype built up that has you anticipating a little bit more outta the strain(s)! All the Chem crosses I've grown or tried have been killer though!

Hey Skunk you're right, I pass over the N.L. nowadays and I used to love the stuff! If the skunks and afghans didn't disappear I'd probably feel that way about them. Man Skunk stop playin' bro and get that roadkill out to the masses ....it takes be back whenever I smell a dead one, lol but imho it's truly the grail of grails. The #1 reason it got scarce is no one had the ability to conceal their grow ops!

Soulie has so many elites at his hands tht the chems are played out.....true story. Some cats have all the luck! I like the 4,d and sis...loved geisel...wish I had it! Both Soulies luck and the geisel..lol

My bad...I knw how the chems originated. Concerts, reunion etc. But the seeds came frm a mysterious colorado grower. ...bag seed.(original line up..abcd,1234) From wht Ive experienced with the ones Ive grown......I would say thy fit descriptions of Nevils crosses.....NL#2 , Garlic bud...etc Ive been growing cannabis since befor the first cannabis cup....seen a few strains in my day. Nevil himself mentions how he thinks the diesels and chems developed.......oddly enough if you look at one of his old catalogues.......88/89/90 etc. You can read it for yourself.

Back then there was...seed bank seeds coming in to US both SSSC and THe Seed bank, alot of gurilla growers orderd these seeds......which over generations became the building blocks for 99.5 % of todays strains. And thats just the USA..if you look at the dutch...wow...we knw tht story.
Alot of mis information goes out across these boards...for what ever reason or motives. I suspect mostly out of mis informed information.

If one was to track Chems back....thy would likely see its as Nevil said. Be interesting to see a dna done.

I read back above tht someone suspected a early landrace hybrid....could be. I dont consider them uniform enough...to be F1's...unless its a poly..which is likely from what Ive seen.

Ill close saying this I had a landrace ghani in 88 that woud put ALL of the elites Ive tested to date....to shame! 2 tokes of lung bustiin expansion..not coughing....and it was time to put it out. And the flavor...would make your dick hard lol! Skunky ,hashy,acrid,mentholie....all goodness. No sweetness......or lemon....which is all to common today...ie....the dutch didnt like this flavor in cannabis....so thy bred it out. It was considerd unrefined. Its why...its so hard to find today. That and the pollution/replacement of the early american genetics.

If its skunks you want, grow some original diesel....( weasel cut) cant speak for any other.dry and cure it right.....and see whats the first word out of folks mouths when thy smell it!

Hindu you're probably a tad older than me, cause that's how I remember it ...exactly! I try to stay out of the origin debates lol, fastest way to self destruct a thread lol, but when I taste some of this clone onlies and others my deja vue kicks in tenfold like "I've had this before!"

That's why I love the Diesels so much!

no matter if they are old or played out any chem line is welcomed in my line up,
im running the tres dawg and double under dawg and i think a wannabe Chemdog's Sister, i just popped 2 original diesel seeds and cant wait to see how they turn out . the first run i ever did was Chemdog's Sister , it was so garlic ,skunk smelling with a sandal wood under tone it hurt your eyes, but i lost that cut when my mom died and didnt take cuts (i will NEVER do that again ) ,that willl always be my favorite and looking for the real one again , love that road kill skunk smell , always have and always will ....love me some road kill ....

Agree to all this Im running deathstar and its super chem related, producing spears of densy dank with what ever you feed her. Best strain Ive personally had next to a deep chunk related strain as far as overall complexity, smoke and personal preference of course.

Id like to see sativas make a comeback. I may do some crossing with a bbgum i have to some tom hills haze or something unique.

Smf- good luck to your project and hope to see it available in the future. Funny I lived in the midwest and we always wanted what cali had and cali wanted. I believe not as much trading or open trading so people hang onto what they have longer. Just a thought but I had many a flavors in the midwest all clone only kills.

funny out here on the east coast, most people wanted the haze and then the sour d came around and it was a mad house. then the ogs came and then the chems and now everyone wants haze and sour d again...lol. ive had Chemdog D for 3 years now and while its still great people are not so excited about it. they no longer have that person to show it to that hasnt seen it. its harder and harder to find the smoker that hasnt smoked it or soemthing close to it, that will hit it and go WTF! and with these cali nugs floating everywere many people at a party pull out some heady shit instead of just one.

Working on getting what I'm told is a 10 weeks cut of Tom Hill Haze. Believe it when I see it!

Serious real deal skunk #1 is no joke, holds a candle to anything out there nowadays easily. Back in the mid 90's when indoor was becoming more prevalent I'll never forget this batch of skunk #1 that my buddy's friend harvested. Shit was white with frost, stunk to high hell and was a one to two hitter!! But you'd keep smoking it cause the flavor was unreal, very powerful too.
I'd give every cut I have and then some for that specific plant. People have these in seed form and they need to start them before they get any older:D

also fwiw, many of these growers competing in this emerald cup are new to the emerald triangle and many of the older heirloom strains are harder than ever to find...

You should hear the old folks chat...lol
I know people that won't rent to out of state growers cause they want to provide jobs for folks who live here! lmao

Not this year but many of the past ones, YES. It's outdoor only and most outdoor isn't that great, even from the triangle. Takes the proper skills and genetics in the right area to get the outdoor dank. Def more crap than good with the outdoor these days, people are going for big ass yields and are feeding there outdoor like indoor, it's hilarious.

There was a guy who went through 55Liters of Roots Excel a week during the veg of outdoor!! LOL

I've seen more fake sour diesel and synthetically fed outdoor this year than ever it seems...organic outdoor is the only way but the yields with these chems are high!
And the waterways are the biggest loser...

That person was ostracized by their neighbors and basically was the laughing stock of the whole hill as he yielded the same as everyone else or slightly less since he doesn't know how to prep for big outdoor trees! It's a diff ballgame out there and the guys with holes that have been worked for decades will have the easiest time getting massive yields with low natural feeds...it's funny to see the first rains fuck with all these new outy growers!
