the plastic should work fine ,then your insulation,as long as it doesnt rip,insulation will mold,but ya the furring straps would work fine too as long as any condensation doesnt build up on it and runs down the plastic to floor,you know what i mean,plastic ,insulation,furring strap then sheetrock or plywood should do it,just dont break the seal of the plastic with nails or screws if you digWhat I did was I framed wall and I just butted the two by four basically an inch off of the metal and then I put my insulation just like you would on a regular house I have enough room back there where I can put plastic sheathing if I need to I haven't had any problem but that was just on the the pens in that one wall I mean in that was just something fast it wasn't for the ceiling but my original plan on the ceiling was just like doing an attic ripping a bunch of you know one by two furring strips out of two-by-fours and mounting up on the ceiling off of the screws that are coming down so that would give you know about a 1-inch space and then I was going to just up there run insulation
thats why i mentioned the rubber,make shit simple,to much thinking for something so simple,i have no doubt the spray in foam will do the job,but the cost factor,now this is gonna be a finished home when done take that in account ,so do it once,spray foam plastic vapor barrier over it and sheet rock ,done ,if you loved in a fantasy world were shit didnt happen,just fans in there would keep condensation down,but you got mountains hills to deal wit also,shit were im at most of what is called winter is the only time we have humidity ,just dry as hell all year,like breathing fire all the time hahahahI was thinking 1/4 wood underlayment.. light weight and I can bend it to foam the ceiling..... but Now I think I need to rethink that idea....
with using liquid nails to hold the under to the fir strips... no nailing involed
i agree ,the foam ,vapor barrier a must,sheet rock or paneling that shit bends very well and looks great so the foam and barrier is a must,cost will come with what you decide to put on it,with the curve of the building,im thinking paneling ,shit is about 1/8th in thick,bends easy ,got a lot of difrent patterns ,much more than we had 20 yrs ago,plywood at 1/4 cost you nut,plastic sheeting both nuts,or you could just spray the foaM IN and then build your walls as you have a leave it all open on top paint that shit flat white sit them lights up and grow on top of your apt,no one will go up there and to be on safe side ,close the end in were they wont,open a vent for fresh air ,all that would take was 2 8 inch holes threw the building,one sucking in fresh air other discharging hot air,i go at least 8im on a attic that sizeIn my mind with metal you need a vapor barrier and insulation that's it. You won't get condensate once you have this. The reason I say spray foam is because once you factor in cost of wood, vapor barrier and insulation. Then add the work... What's really more cost effective? I guess that depends on how much you value your time
Or go expensive af and put in rafters and insulate then add in roof vents.
clean clean and same temp as outside until it dries i agree,that rig you showed earlier is ideal and home depot let you use the equitment to do it if you buy the foam thereBut one important factor is you need the surface to be within temps and dry to properly apply the foam. If you go that route this is not a should it's a must.
thats what i was saying earlier,warranty ,i wouldnt tackle it myself,if id done a few yes i do it,but just go hard at it first time no,unless i tried it out on a small little shed or something first,it looks easy ,but you can over spray it also which leaves a lot of work cutting it down with a damn machette or something hahahah then you just wasted a shit load of itAlso with any diy you can fuck it up so there is a risk. Might be work looking into a contractor price just for shits and giggles you never know. I had a buddy I was gonna help do his roof and he had a quote from a couple guys just starting thier own company.. when I seen the quote I said I ain't fucking helping you to save $500 man pay them. $500 for a warranty , doing all the work is cheap
the spray foam is vapor and insulation all in one no need to to plastic it after. My experience with it was in my basement. I bought a house and the inspector missed a foundation wall having a huge fucking crack i mean grand fucking canyon style they had to build the wall 6" from the actual foundation wall cause it was leaning in. How i found it was water getting in. I ripped open the wall and was like wtf. It was easy to see after they missed it on the home inspection the wall right above it (and it hard to explain the layout) was 6" back so it stuck out like a sore thumb but i didn't notice and neither did the inspector. I didn't have 30K at the time to rip out my attached garage and replace that wall. So after a fuck ton of thinking i used the spray foam re framed it and up it went. Never leaked again was fucking amazed at that shit. sold the house a few years later. Just depends on time, I’m a fencing contractor and we can usually install a fence with lifetime warranty for only about 10-12% more than you can run down to Home Depot and do it yourself. So what do you really save?Also with any diy you can fuck it up so there is a risk. Might be work looking into a contractor price just for shits and giggles you never know.
