The Final Two Weeks - True/False

Hey guys!

I keep reading all these things that seems to repeat across many forums, and want to get your feedback and experience on them…

Buds visibly swell up during the last two weeks

Buds significantly increase the amount of terpenes AND sometimes change the aroma

Some strains “will surprise you with the amount of change that takes place the last two weeks”

These things keep coming up over and over and over again, and even though I’ve grown many plants, I’ve always had them outdoors and never really noticed any changes like these!

So if you’ve experienced any of these changes or ANY changes the last two weeks of flower, share your stories!!

Because in my experience…they seem to grow and grow and swell, and then stop for weeks until they “finish” but by that I mean the trichomes ripen! No noticeable change in the bud size or aroma!

These photos are of the same strain, same medium, same nutes, same light, same love…

And this stupid thing keeps throwing white pistils going into week 9…

I really hope this thing swells up these last two weeks…

Looks great from a distance!! Ha ha ha!

I’ve told this story before here : ) I grew a pineapple plant, it looked great! It smelled like fresh cut pineapple all through flower! Tons of buds! Chopped it and dried it, the smell literally turned to “over ripe pineapple” and was gross as hell! HAHAHA!

I just grew a plant that had one smell all through flower. Then chopped and hung it, with the smell changing about three times over dry and then another two changes in smell in the jar! Mind you this is not even cured properly! LOL! I smoked on it all through drying and then curing (its almost gone lol) but man that was an olfactory roller coaster in a half!

Im still waiting to see the buds swell in the last two weeks (all mine have been chopped early) do to pests or some other factor that was way my fault lol!

mine definately thicken up in the last 2-3 weeks . have you got a million watt light ? i had a purple mac which did that last summer and it was miserable chopping it because it didnt have bud i had hundreds of individual calyxs. i ended up putting in a small blender and now just have to pick out stalks when i use it . the plant was outside and got baked in 30o+ sun and i undewatered it

Oh heck yeah do they change.

Visually, you can see the amount that is put on from day-to-day during the last two weeks.

Smell changes during growth.
Some strains don’t smell much till there near harvest

again once buds cured it smells different again. If it’s cured a long time the smell & taste will change again

The taste changes once the buds are cured.

Bear have you grown Cap's Okie x Cman ? that strain did similar for me, by the time it was cured all the way it took on a smell I'm not crazy about. I love the buzz and when smoking it I don't pick it up but in the jar eeesh.

Cali Dream was a strain that the buds looked noticbly plumper every morning late in flower.

I also include the 2 weeks of drying, as "another two weeks". I checked the trichs under a microscope before a chop several months back, I did it at about 90-10% cloudy/clear, no amber anywhere. Dried it for about 8 days and was pulling off a bit for a lil test smoke. I put it under the same scope dried, and it had about 10% amber, when before the chop I couldn't find any. It was a stunted sativa auto so I wanted to get it as "heady high" as much as possible to use as a mixer. Amber trichs are basically unavoidable, and don't stop forming once you chop. So shouldn't that extra last two weeks be the general two weeks of drying, if trichome ratio is the important factor for you?

One of the reasons I harvest with trichomes at about 50% amber. So she can be all she can be. Not just in terpene but weight as well. 2 weeks can add 20% to your weight.
If I want something more active I smoke a Sativa, if I want to chill it's an indica.

Ha ha ha!

No I’m using a 300w Mara hydro sp3000

And a viparspectra p2500 underneath

I don’t think that this is due to too much light or heat because both of those things are in check…

I just don’t understand why instead of normal fox tailing that’s stacked up little budlets, it’s these weird stems with lollipop tops sort of!

Makes no sense to me!

Seriously though…

What’s the point of listing all this information when you sell seeds if you’re going to get a bunch of different phenos that all smell different AND if your light them differently…they’ll smell different even more ha ha ha.

I’m just used to clones where you get what you pay for!

Seeds are just…roulette as far as I’m concerned unless you grow some DJ Short Blueberry that’s F7 or something!

Barney’s Farm just pollinates hype clones with hype clones and immediately sells the seeds…if I had to guess…mass production equals 17 different phenotypes ha ha ha!!!

I have not. I’ve got some frostette’s going though and I believe they have a little “Okie” in them if my not mistaken (could be wrong).

That what this XX strain I have did (the plant im referring too above I think is a Raskals OG) but man the XX had a purple in there that the smoke was ok (worked I got high) but just didnt have a cool flavor or smell after it was all dried.
