Usually can if there not completely severed. could even be done here, if it was lined up correctly and tapped like you say.

Here's that plant, lol. Burnt as fuck from the heatwave, but still decent, hopefully. Smells good so far, and sticky.

Yea, in that case, it probably took more than an ounce off the plant. Thankfully it didn't happen too far into budding, so it probably affected it far less than I image.
