Dont roast me too hard eh?
This is a heathkit ta-17 I converted into a "stealth" grow box for fun as a first grow. Its currently day 52 since the switch to 12/12.
Box is ~24in wide, 12in deep, and ~33inches tall. Planters are ~6inches tall. The intake is passive and filtered, and for exhaust there is a 4 inch duct with ac infinity fan/carbon filter set at 50% speed. Total grow area is about 5.5 Cu ft. (I dont count the other cabinet where the filter/fan is mounted.
Light: One of the cheapest amazon leds--- 92w claimed actual draw ("600W" light)
Medium is 50/50 peat/vermiculite with added gypsum and lime. temps with lights on are ~76f at exhaust, and 78f just below the canopy where the deadest air is on the right. Lights off min. temp they will hit is 66f. RH is about 40 at night and mid 30s during lights on. No humidifier.
Planters: Two 12inch terra cotta pots(coco liners for drainage). The pot on the left is 4.28 liters, the "T'air-a-cotta" on the right is of an unkown volume, but it is smaller. I drilled holes to see what would happen. The root ball should tell a story when we are done here. She has had some issues, but she seems to be doing well now.
Where we started:
This is day 2 of flower, you can see I hadnt concocted a drainage system, or quite figured out how to fit both my chosen planters. The plant on the left was not topped, and the plant on the right was topped. I was using this time to learn how these plants grow, and experimenting with how short I could keep them and how to train.
Day 32 of Flower: Improvised drainage system completed, plants now dont leave the box. The plant on the right tried to kiss the light so she got bent over the next day(minor light burn on the tip of the bud).
Drainage:
Where we are now:
Whoops, power cord making a cameo
The ladies wanted a picture together:
