This is probably a very noobish question but I figured you folks would have a quick answer. When I take my girls outside in the afternoon for their daily sunbath I generally take the temperature sensor along with them as it sits in one of the pots. On rather warm days I've seen temp readings as high as 116° F. Would it be foolish to assume it is safe to reach the same temps under my HPS or is it different due to the same emitting higher amounts of radiation?

Not sure how it was that much more, and yes outside plants have a cooler root zone unless in a pot, either way, above the mid 90s inside or out your plant will not be in the best possible environment and struggle some.

If it was 80degrees outside and it had adequate airflow and moisture it should be just fine.
