Think maybe you're gonna register? Once registered, you can do things like, oh, say, go witness your local vote count. You can also volunteer to work the election booths, and while that does nothing to ensure things go your (our) way, it's participation on a level that allows you to see what's actually happening in your district. I think vote counting is more important, but that happens overnight.

This is what the end of federal marijuana prohibition looks like, folks. Longtime drug warrior Sen. Chuck Schumer just said that states should be able to legalize without federal harassment.

The dominoes are falling...

'That doesn't explain how and why every officer I've had contact with since last year has told me, not verbatim but in so many words, that they think it should be legalized so they can go after the real criminals, the ones who make victims. How do we explain these officers, then?'

They talk the talk sea but they do not walk the walk, given the chance 99 3/4% of them will take the easy way out and shaft you for weed and if the opportunity presents itself trump up the charges even more, sales, transportation, smuggling, you name it they will charge you with it.

YES ken!!!!!! I am so stoked to see some progress in this area, progress is one hundred percent relied on us voting, so FUCK YEAH brother!!!!! Now as for the cops and others standing in the way, sure. There were many of like minded fucks feeling that same way in 1933 when prohibition ended the first time, surely more folks like them will be around in 2018 when the federal classification ends on cannabis and it is rescheduled to 3. Thats right, my money is on 2018 for federal reclassification but I also dont doubt the power of money to solidify this reality. What I am curious of is what happens after this goes into place? How and what will the industry look like? I really am pushing for mom and pop stores in both CA and MT and am taking an active roll in both places for 2016 legalization.

This is a very amazing time, I was driving around SF yesterday thinking about 10 years ago and the first time I saw a dispensary in the U.S. and was simply blown away by the idea, and really thought that the Bush gov was going to put the hammer down: I was wrong then and have seen marijuana literally explode on the national scene since, not withstanding its own problem areas like MT and CA but wow, shit has moved very fast. I personally have never been more excited and simultaneously scared as shit about the aftermath of all of this.

That is what the final sentence of that first paragraph was implying. Most of the cops don't really believe in the war on Cannabis and would rather go after violent criminals. I have a friend who is a cop, countless times he has literally looked the other way while I smoked a joint or pipe. But they are still cops and will bust you if its convenient for them. When they retire they recant and some even fight to end the drug war.

Then I am truly blessed, because I can recount several instances where I basically handed myself to them on a plate and they didn't take me up on the 'offer'. The first time was sitting at a stop light in Whittier toking a pipe, only to look over and see a Whittier cop looking right at me. He shook his head as the light turned green and we moved off, I thought for sure I was gonna be pulled over and arrested. Nope, he wagged his finger at me and kept going.

I am blessed.

Well good for you Ken. We all need to keep in mind though that registering to vote is just the first step. In order for us to have a well running government that is "Of the people, by the people, and for the people" we all need to stay vigilant as to how our elected officials are voting on legislation. There are 2 types of voters in this country...we have informed voters who stay on top of current events and such and then we have the low/no information voters who simply watch their TVs and do the bidding of the media/govt/corporate machine.

We all have an obligation to be in the first group.
