Hey everyone! Im growing a seed i got from a bag of Platinum Garlic OG from Triple Seven out here in AZ. Iv had some trouble keeping the temps down where my grow tent used to be, so i dedicated an extra room to it. I was keeping my temps between 70° and 80°, but with the new setup i think i can keep temps lower. Anyone think il stress her out too much if i lower temps by 5-10° on average? Shes only about 5 weeks old at this point.

Il post a couple baby pictures too so everyone can see her progression :)

Growing in purple cow indicanja soil using distilled water with a humidifier running basically 24/7 (AZ dry as fuck) in a 3 gallon fabric pot in a vivosun 2x2x4 grow tent with a 100W dimmable/adjustable vivosun aerolight

Looking Good Brother!

Suggestion. Throw away the moisture meter. They're useless. I use the light pot method to determine when to water but the girls will also tell me when they're thirsty.

Can't really tell from the pic but it looks like your spot watering. Try and water the entire media. I know it sounds like you're wasting water but you want to keep the media moist all the way to the edge of the bag. When you water the entire media anything near the roots, the rhizosphere, will dry out first due to the roots utilizing whatever is easiest to access. When the rhizosphere gets dry the plant will hormonally signal the roots to grow looking for more water sources. Having moist media that your roots are looking for is what will get your roots to grow. You want as much root growth as your plant can handle. I always tell new gardeners that your objective is to get good at growing roots. If you can do that the foliage will follow and you'll set your plant up for down the road when you need the uptake volume your plant will want when it is bigger. Your plants size and vigor is determined by the root system that can get it that big and provide it with the nutrients it needs to photosynthesize. Your large root system will also reward you when you go into flower.

Sup neighbor? I had a helluva time getting my rh stable-ish. These monsoons helped a bit. I eventually got 2 humidifiers so I could run my exhaust without dumping all my humidity from the grow tent because of our hot dry air! I want to see how that purple cow works. I was real tempted on it for my next run.

Lol! Iv been thinking about getting rid of that moisture meter, at this point i only use it for the Ph and i can use it to give me a general idea of how strong the light is as well. But the moisture part hasnt been anywhere near what i was hoping for.

As for the spot watering, as of right now i just barely started giving her 1L of water at a time. This is my first actual grow so im being cautious not to over water, but if you think she can handle it i might bump that up to 1.5L and get more of the soil wet. I try to avoid getting the water to the edges just because it leaks right out of the fabric bag lol but i think im gonna take your recommendation and start watering across the entire thing. Do you think 1.5L would be enough for now? Or should i add a little bit more,

Really appreciate the advice! Love when people can share some experience

Loving it so far! Just like all the reviews say, just add distilled water and the soil will take care of the rest! Really good for a beginner lol might find some good nutrients to scratch in on another plant in the future, for now though i just wanna get this beautiful lady to harvest lol

Yea dude AZ is a dryyyyyyy place lol i live in the forested mountains on the east side of the state and its still dry as hell here. I had to get the vivosun humidifier with the tent setup so i could keep it from getting too bad lol id definitely recommend giving the purple cow a try, so far its been incredibly easy just giving her some distilled water every 2-3 days. How many plants do you usually run?

I've grown in Indicanja before and at best, all it needed was a hair of CalMag. Your plant looks awesome. Good job

Hell yea dude thats awesome! How big is your grow space? I wanna upgrade to a bigger tent in the future when i get some extra cash lol and its a perfect starting point, i love it. I feel like it would be hard for me to manage the nutrients and stuff right now because i work 2 jobs and im not home a lot lol so really glad this purple cow is working so far. Definitely gonna follow your progress with it too!

When water leaks out the side of the bag it means you're watering too fast. I bet if you pulled apart the media you'll find dry spots after you water.

Don't worry about overwatering at any one time. Obviously you don't want to flood the pot but it's the frequency of waterings that will bring on overwatering issues. Cannabis likes a moist to wettish soil. Too much water too frequently and you don't allow the roots to be able to do the O² exchanges it needs during the dryback period. Essentially you'll drown the roots.

Try not to water in measured amounts. As your plant grows its water needs will change. When I hand water I'll usually water in around a 1/4 liter of water slowly to counteract the hydrophobic conditions the media is probably in, due to the dryback period. I'll let it soak in for a few minutes then slowly water around the perimeter of the pot so that the outer half of the media gets wet until I start to see it run out the bottom of the bag making sure water isn't coming out the sides. If it does I'll stop watering and wait for it to soak into the media then continue watering. I'll then water around the stem and on top of the root ball and, again, wait to see it start running out the bottom of the bag. Once this is done the media should be wet all the way through.

If you want to make it easy on yourself, you can do what I did and use Matrix plates and pads from FloraFlex. These will ensure that all the media gets wet from edge to edge. If you order them make sure you ordered the correct size for the pot you are using. You can either hand water into them or, when you have multiple plants to feed, you can put them on an automated watering system like I did and not have to worry about missing a water day.

Wow thanks dude! I gave way more water and watered the whole thing yesterday and she exploded! That was definitely something holding growth back a little so il be watering way more of the soil from now on. For right now i have to stick with hand watering, but eventually when i expand and upgrade il be using an automatic watering system

Update pictures!

I took your advice and started giving her more water. Im making sure the soil is wet deep down and all the way across the entire medium and that immediately made a difference. Shes gettin BUSHY! Gonna need to defoliate soon i think, just trimmed 8 days ago though. Not sure how often i can trim without causing too much stress, but i think shes sayin shes ready.

Shes about a foot tall at this point, and about 6 inches away from the light. Its only a 100W light, she seems to be fine but maybe someone else has some experience with this?

Let me know what you think!
