Nice start! Next time you grow either tie or stake down branches to let more light in and maximize the harvest. I use wire coat hanger sections bent into U shapes and pipe cleaners to tie the tops. I mean, you don't have to train but, you'll get better buds and more of them.

Yea thats one thing il be doing differently on my next grow. I just wanted to get the plant to harvest this time around since its my first plant lol gonna try to start some LST tomorrow, little late in the grow to start LST but whatever lol next grow the LST will be started WAY earlier

When water leaks out the side of the bag it means you're watering too fast. I bet if you pulled apart the media you'll find dry spots after you water.

Don't worry about overwatering at any one time. Obviously you don't want to flood the pot but it's the frequency of waterings that will bring on overwatering issues. Cannabis likes a moist to wettish soil. Too much water too frequently and you don't allow the roots to be able to do the O² exchanges it needs during the dryback period. Essentially you'll drown the roots.

Try not to water in measured amounts. As your plant grows its water needs will change. When I hand water I'll usually water in around a 1/4 liter of water slowly to counteract the hydrophobic conditions the media is probably in, due to the dryback period. I'll let it soak in for a few minutes then slowly water around the perimeter of the pot so that the outer half of the media gets wet until I start to see it run out the bottom of the bag making sure water isn't coming out the sides. If it does I'll stop watering and wait for it to soak into the media then continue watering. I'll then water around the stem and on top of the root ball and, again, wait to see it start running out the bottom of the bag. Once this is done the media should be wet all the way through.

If you want to make it easy on yourself, you can do what I did and use Matrix plates and pads from FloraFlex. These will ensure that all the media gets wet from edge to edge. If you order them make sure you ordered the correct size for the pot you are using. You can either hand water into them or, when you have multiple plants to feed, you can put them on an automated watering system like I did and not have to worry about missing a water day.

This is true. I've found that instead of just fertilizing every few days, now I hand water plain water early in the day. A few hours later I water again with the nutes. I haven't had any deficiencies or burned tips since just changing this. Watering slower and eliminating dry, hydrophobic spots really helps.

It's not too late to train. You've still plenty of time. Shape it and stretch it so that it receives light deeper and more evenly. You got this.

Well i was saying its a little late compared to when most people seem to start lol i think if i start now though, il be able to control the outward growth just fine and wel get to see a full canopy 😁 cant wait!

Ok i just ordered some LST clamps online, should be here in 2 days. Im gonna give that a try. Wasnt planning on it for this plant just because its my first grow and i wanted to get a feel for the plant in general before i mess with it too much, but i guess if im trimming and defoliating then i should probably try to maximize the yield and do some LST. Also it seems like everyone wants to reach through the screen and do it for me 🤣 so im gonna go for it lol hopefully the branches stay malleable enough. Il throw in a few update pictures when i gitter dun
Because the initial plant is nice and healthy and us more experienced growers know what you can do with a plant like that when you train it! 😁

LST clips are fine but I usually dispense with that kind of stuff as I'll eventually lose them or break them so I resort to stuff I have laying around the house. The last few grows I've used paper clips clipped to the edge of the cloth pot. You can use string, garden wire, whatever will hold them down as an LST device.

I like to use the ScrOG method when I grow and I define the screen as a giant LST device as it does the same thing LST clips will but on a whole plant level rather than branch only. I did a ScrOG in a 5 x 5 that came out great but I also did a small one to see if it was worth it in a small 2 x 2 tent. It was worth it.

Had a few clones of different strains cooking in the mother tent so I decide to just throw them all into one pot and see what happens. I also wanted to see if a ScrOG was viable in such a small tent. It was.

The day I planted them in the media and ScrOGged them. I went straight to 12/12 using the stretch period as the veg period to fill out the screen.

You know whats really funny is that i ordered those LST clamps AND a SCROG net at the same time hahaha i think thats gonna be the best way to go, especially for a noob like me lol

Im definitely listening to you more experienced growers, thats exactly why i joined this forum was to make sure i mitigate my noobish mistakes as much as possible lol and you guys have been awesome! Convinced me to give way more water and told me the best way to water with soil, and you guys have gotten me to start trying to train my plant which i wasnt planning on doing lol so thank you all! 😁

These plants, I was forced to put in flower because other plants were getting out of hand. Well, those other 3 plants turned hermie and males. I ended up training these more after flip because they stretched so much. I still adjust the canopy continuously. I mean, you can double the plant's yield of decent buds. My setup is El Cheapo compared to most here. A $130 400w Amazon LED light in an old shower. But it is what it is and I have grown some fantastic smoke in there. I can't believe that I ever just grew the plant and didn't train it now. I'm working on getting a scrog going in there. And, a tent. Train! It's really not too late until late flower. But even then I'm still tweaking the canopy.

Love your setup! I saw someone do the same thing you did in an unused walk in shower. He was just setting it up and I recommended that he go to his local hardware store and buy the cheap white wire shelving they sell there to use as a drain rack for all his plants. I love that stuff. I use it to mount stuff on the roof of my tent and will be mounting more on one of the sidewalls the next grow so that I can mount stuff.

This run I used just a roof mount so I could mount all the electronics and get it all out of the way. I also mounted a smoke alarm in the tent.

PLEASE EVERYBODY!!! Mount a smoke alarm in your tent so that if a fire starts you can get a heads up and put it out or at least get your ass out of the house. Also, MINIMUM of a 5lb extinguisher at arms reach. Don't use the little car extinguishers. Those won't be big enough to put it out.

The way I did it was to buy a dedicated smoke alarm, you don't need a CO² detector, just the fire part making it much cheaper, and use some 1/2" PEX clips that I mounted to the mount plate. I think I paid $6 for the detector at HD.

Yep, it's always good to have smoke detectors throughout the house. I have 1 in every room. A surge protector is also a good idea if you're pulling much power. LED lights help. They're alot cooler than HID. That wire is a good idea. I took apart an old crib setup that had a wire grid that's the same size as my space. I changed up a bit because I had a plant outgrow the space but, I'll be back to it shortly. We all grow as we can, where we can.

New update!

I got my net today! Im a noob so i hope i set this up right lol let me know what you guys think! Didnt take very long to get set up, but the plant wasnt quite tall enough to start really weaving it through, but i see a big difference in light penetration, so im hoping to get lots of nice little bud sites :)

O shit i forgot to ask, does anyone think i need to let that upside down branch get taller before bending it? It wont hurt the leaves if theyre being hit with light on the underside will it?

Try tucking ALL the branches under the net. Don't worry about the Upside down leaves and branches, they'll acclimate after a couple of days.

This is what the 5 x 5 looked like when I laid the net over them. I arranged the main branches to fill out the net.

I think i see what youre saying. Some of my branches werent really long enough to get up under the nettinf without covering over another branch, i figured itd be alright to just tuck those under the netting after they get a little taller. That net is gonna extend my veg time by quite a bit lol

Quick question for everyone though. Does anyone have any suggestions for a good camera to set up in my tent? I wanna get a good time lapse of the flowering stage of this plant. I understand some cameras have an infrared light for night vision, so i was wondering if there were any good ones someone has experience with already?

Oh man I cant recall if it was @Newty that had camera in their grow tent. I know one of the farmers Ive chatted with here have a grow cam. But if I recall theirs was an actual cam you connect to so they can view their garden remotely.

This is the one I use. I don't use it for time lapse, but you probably could. I just like to constantly look at my plants when I'm not home šŸ˜‚ Those are a few shots from the cam, and you can mount it on a clip on shelf in your tent šŸ‘
