I've been sitting here perusing this thread and remembering, still rather clearly, when you first appeared on this site. You had so many questions, and often stated how you felt unprepared. And then I look at all you've done. Nice trip.

He learns fast! (obviously!)

All the plants are looking super healthy - I would go as far to say damn near perfect really.

I have a lot of leaf hoppers this year! I have been killing them by hand. But I saw their damage on my big cookie and now im pissed . What can I spray for those?

The grasshoppers were bad last year and killing by hand was the only way i have found so far.
Maybe the 10 cats will help with that...lol..I know they are helping with the Gophers, squirrels and mice!

Hey brother, what kind of damage do they inflict? I've found this: http://www.ipm.ucdavis.edu/PMG/r302300111.html

Arbico has some products listed for leafhopper/planthopper control: http://www.arbico-organics.com/category/pest-solver-guide-leafhoppers-planthoppers/32

Thanks for the links Sister Sea :)

I dint think they will kill the plants I had them last year too..But they are worse this year
..The UC Davis link confirmed that
MANAGEMENT

Although leafhoppers infest most vineyards in California, they may not require chemical treatment because vines can tolerate fairly high populations without harm, and predators and parasites may be able to maintain leafhopper populations below tolerance levels. In coastal regions and the Central Valley, however, grape leafhopper populations may occasionally reach damaging levels and require treatment. If chemical control of leafhopper is necessary, wait until the second (summer) generation, whenever possible, before treating.

The volunteer plant on the side of the house has them the worst.. so I went out and took a couple photos.
I think its a leaf hopper...most of them are green and smaller than this one.
I think this is as big as they get

So THAT'S what they do! Ok, I now know that I, too, have leafhoppers. I haven't been letting it bother me.
