Is there a special timer that will allow me to use on my exhaust fan so I can have it run say, 5 min on and 30 min off? Both my digital and regular timers won't allow me to do it . Thanks

what type of fan do you have? It must be anolog or have an auto restart function or you will not be able to control it by cutting power

That will not work unless as i stated above the fan is anolog or has auto restart. Most fans are anolog but his may not be

No, it has a max of 8 on/off cycles. So I wouldn't be able to say, have the fan turn on every hr for five minutes.

So if you CAN control it by on/off power then a nearpow timer off amazon will work. They has infinate repeat cycles to the second if you want

Well. All I'm trying to do is have fresh air for my plants in my 4x4 tent without running the fan excessively where it will hurt me on electricity costs.

Your fan draws very little load.

How much per kilowatt do you oay for electricity i can calculate it to show you the exact cost.

That model is 67w so 67x24=1608w or 1.6kw per day running 24/7 on maximum

i pay like $0.10 per kw so about $0.16 a day. How long will it take to pay off that timer?

but you wont need to run it at max until the plants are much bigger.

I got 4 of these two I use, two are backup or future use.

https://www.princessauto.com/en/24-hour-mechanical-timer/product/PA0009015702

I like analog as it keeps it’s setting and starts up if power is interrupted. (Still have to correct the time.)

https://www.princessauto.com/en/black-grounded-power-switch/product/PA0009072810

Added this so I can turn of the timer to adjust without mucking with it. Running fast just turn off in dark a few minutes to correct.

The nearpow also have battery backups so they also resume function

Nothing wrong with those for your needs… but they dont work for many applications like high cycle or to the second applications such as the posters. In that case even free doesn’t matter if it wont do the job

Don’t think you can find a cheaper one that does those applications for less than nearpow but i could be wrong.

Oh ok. 67 watts ain't bad. That's not bad at all. Thank you. What would you suggest I run the fan on /off? 15 min on every 2 hours ?

I suggest 24/7 with a speed controller. You have to remember its going to help regulate temp and humidity and those can cause you all sorts of problems with large fluctuations

Ok. Last question. Does the fan use the same amount of electricity with a controller, high vs low speed?
